As a MBA student taking Managerial Economics, I found this book extremely helpful. It removes a great deal of confusion and foggy Economic mumbo gumbo, enabling the reader to truly understand Microeconomic concepts. The quizzes at the end of each chapter assists greatly in your understanding of how well you have grasped what was presented. The final exam at the end of the booked helped me with the final exam in my course. I strongly recommend this book for any Economics course for which microecomonics is an integral part. The only real thing of value that I can share is perhaps the fact that I got an A in the class and a great deal was due to this book! I hope more are to come. This author knows his stuff.

I bought this book based on recommendations from CBE (credit by examination) forums. After reading it, I agree that it is an excellent resource for the microeconomics exam. It is written in a conversational style-- easy to follow and understand. The author is mindful that his readers are beginners and he proceeds very slowly, with many examples, so that the knowledge of microeconomics builds slowly, steadily and (surprise!) easily. It's a great book for learning key concepts. If you are beginning a study of microeconomics, read this book first. It will give you a good foundation!

I am an accounting major and was looking to take a CLEP exam for the required Microeconomics course, seeing I could not bear to sit through a whole semester of this stuff. I waited a little long to start studying, but a week was all I needed to read through the book. The chapters are relatively short, which is good because I don't think anyone can sit through more than 20 or 30 minutes of economics without getting drowsy. By the way, who am I to talk being an ACCOUNTING major, credits vs debits, assets and liabilites, etc. But I digress. What's even better is that each chapter ends with a short quiz, which reinforces what you just read, along with detailed explainations in the answer section, so you can see why an answer is what it is. Also, as you get closer to test day, you can make use of the short summary at the end of each chapter to refresh your memory. All in all, an interesting and helpful book. Passed the CLEP with room to spare, so not a bad tool for only a week's study.

Totally made sense without esoteric formulas that we usually associate with Economics. Used it as a reference for the Managerial Economics class in the MBA program since I needed to brush up on the basics.

I took AP Microeconomics my sophomore year in high school and, sad to say, I did not pass my AP exam. However, when I found out about CLEP, I took another shot at it. This book does explain everything well, but I think that personally for me the material just never really clicked. I did pass, but also with the aid of the YouTube channel, mjmfoodie. If you need extra help in explanation, she has a whole playlist of videos (for both Micro- and Macroeconomics) which are rather amusing. They are very helpful, and therefore I think that's partially why I passed the test in the first place.

Great basic book to help know the terms of economics. I used this as a supplemental reading for a health care economics class that I was really struggling in. If you have the chance I recommend reading the entire book before the class starts if your using this as supplemental reading to aid in school coursework. If you just want to know how economics works, this is a great beginning book.

This book is not for the beginner in Econ. It does not clarify words. Does not use the same terms as used in college micro. This book does not demystify economics, it actually is making econ harder to understand. I would not recommend this book for beginners.

I am pretty astounded at this book and books that I bought for financial accounting- I am astounded that they will just suddenly throw out new terms and not explain them, but expect you to understand them.

I am a beginner trying to study for the CLEP for Microeconomics, and I only understood half of this book. It might be great for brushing up, but it is not so good for just starting out. The first several chapters made lots of sense. Then the book starts suddenly throwing out terms and not explaining what they mean by them. The last half of the book tends to overexplain concepts that are obvious and not explain concepts that aren't obvious. And I don't understand how they can just throw out new terms without a definition or explanation. There is also no review or vocabulary. There are quizzes, but I found several mistakes amoung the answers that I actually knew. I also found mistakes in the graphs and grammar, which make it harder to understand what they are trying to say.

Some of the concepts (in which I understood what they were trying to say) seem to defy logic. I was expecting something totally different- so I hope the next book I try is better. Someone wrote in another review that Economics for Dummies has a really good 150 page section on Microeconomics that explains things really clearly. So I guess that is what I will be trying next.
