A good generic webcam for the price

Like many products on Amazon, this appears to be a generic product (in this case a webcam), with no branding on the device at all. The seller comes up with their own packaging. Mine is labeled "HD 1080P" Web Camer - S2. Yes, no "a" on "camera." The instructions are minimal, and there is no web site for the company, or software to download.

I used this for a 2-day discussion group, for about 14 hours total. All in all, it worked well. No fancy features like zoom, but it does tilt and pan easily to get yourself centered. It sits well on top of my monitor and the mounting bracket seems pretty big in order to accommodate different monitor depths. The sound worked well, and the picture looked clear.

I was a little disappointed when I opened this up due to the generic look and feel, but for the price, I can't complain. It does what I needed it to do, and seems sturdy and well-made.

I ordered this to replace a very old 2MP Logitech webcam, with a discount code and whilst it was on sale I was able to get this for $18 for a 2K camera which is a very good deal.

The build quality is good for the price and works as expected.
I won't review the product as there are already many reviews on the quality and use of the product, What I wanted to put down is some information in regards to an issue that some people and I have experienced with the webcam giving a echo or feedback noise when using MS Windows, in my case Windows 10.

The issue with the echo or feedback is caused by the drivers that are automatically installed in Windows 10, when you first plug the webcam into the computer. I'm not sure why this is happening for some people and not for others, but what I do know in my case is that the mic was recording my voice and it was passing this input back to the speakers.

I've tried right clicking onto the speaker icon in the notification area in windows and going to the MIC volume and setting that volume bar all the way down. This worked until you restart windows, windows didn't save the settings on restart. So the volume mixer didn't resolve my issue.

Solution for me:
1) What fixed it for me was to right click onto the speaker icon again, go to the USB Microphone (attached pictures) and click onto the picture of the MIC.

2) When you click onto the picture, it will open up a new window for "Microphone Properties"
3) Go to "Listen" Tab
4) There you will find a "Playback through this device" drop down list
5) Choose a device that you will never use, this will now push your voice playback to a device that you will never hear so the feedback and echo will no longer occur. In my case it was a output port on my audio card.
6) Click Apply and OK

Hopefully this should fix your issue with the MIC echo or feedback.
This might not be the best way to fix it, but this should resolve your issue. If you have a better solution please write back if you can or put up your own solution.

The packaging is simple. There are some weird descriptions in the user manual but who cares. It is basically a plug and play webcam. The build quality is good enough. There’s no unnecessary decoration. The clamp does not work with my screen nicely but it is fine as long as I stop fussing with it. I do wish it could have a privacy cap or something. The blue indicating light is always on and I don’t really know if it is still operating or not. So I 3D printed a cover for it to fix this issue. Those are the only issues I have with this webcam. Everything else is fine for the price I paid.

Good quality sensor marred by not so good optics

This is a very decent web cam *for the price*. The price caveat is an important consideration, as there are some issues that mar the performance of the camera. The positives are that the camera sensor has *excellent* color rendition, at least in good lighting. Colors are warm and vibrant. The primary issue is the lack of autofocus. The focus point for the fixed focus optics is set too long for normal webcam use in front of a computer (under 2 feet away). But background objects are very sharp and clear, but that's not what the main focus of the camera should be on. The fact that the background is *very* sharp indicates that the sensor in this camera is pretty good (and upholds the advertised 2k resolution), but if the person in front of the camera is not very clear then it defeats the quality of the sensor.

That said, I'm giving this camera 4 stars mainly because it is better than most other cameras at its low price point, thus making it a good value.

Great WebCam for the Price, but...

I wanted a cost effective web cam to replace a 10 year old one. This looked to fit the bill.

Before I go on, this camera is connected to my Linux (Ubuntu) machine, so if you run Windows(tm) or OSX(tm), you may find different results.

Picture quality is quire acceptable. It is not great, but it is not poor either. It works well most of the time. I say most, because it appears that the camera disappears from the list of attached devices at some point. THIS MAY BE A LINUX DRIVER ISSUE not a camera issue. Simply unplugging the camera and replugging it in seems to clear the fault. (I have not taken the time to track the problem. I just do the unplug/plug thing when I need to.)

Bottom Line: If you need a serviceable webcam for video conferences in this new remote-office era, it is worth the cost.
