This manual grater finely grinds cinnamon, nutmeg, garlic, or ginger with ease. Originally designed for shaving wood, the patented 18/8 stainless-steel Microplane blade has razor-sharp teeth that make grating effortless and that wont clog. The large 5-by-2-1/2-inch grating surface can handle bigger ingredients, such as large lemons for zesting, and the matching 18/8 stainless-steel frame and satin-finish offer durable support for the blade. The grater has a non-slip rubber grip just above its head to keep it steady on a tabletop during grating. A plastic safety cover is also included to keep fingers safe and to keep the blade from dulling while in storage. This grater is dishwasher-safe for easy cleaning. --Cristina Vaamonde

Other than that, the grater is beautiful and a fine addition to my kitchen.
Get this one and the coarse one and you're set.
I use this one less often ... mostly for zesting, grating nutmeg etc..
The coarse one is the workhorse for cheese.
*Except for the terrible sticker that other people have mentioned. Tip: if you call customer service at Microplane, they'll sell you one directly, with no sticker. The person I spoke with was apologetic; she said they thought they'd put the bad adhesive problems behind them, but then got surprised by another bad batch.
If you do get one with an impossible sticker, find a place with good ventilation and use Bestene or some other rubber cement thinner. You'll get it all off.
The grater itself isn't just spot welded at the corners, it is completely welded up both sides where the grating surface comes into contact with the wire frame. There is some flex when grating Parmesan, but it seems fairly sturdy. The grater makes very fluffy, fine piles of Parmesan that melt instantly. This is great if you want to have your cheese melt, but if you want heartier strips you would need a different size. This greater doesn't work as well on medium to soft cheeses like cheddar as they tend to crumble when pushed through the small holes.
After a month, I'm still happy I bought it. I can't say how well it holds up over time, but it seems very well made.
Don't waste your money on the non-pro versions of these. Their plastic frames break. I bought a set of those first, at Costco, and and after they all broke within a year or two, replaced them with these.
Upon receiving this Microplane the quality and professional sturdiness stood out immediately. The thoughtful additions of non slip base and a tighter cover made my day. This is reminiscent of chef tools I am familiar with in restaurants. I have no doubts about it longevity and usefulness.
If fine grating is what you need this would be my first choice.
