Effective keyboard for the price

This model of keyboard is the most basic version I could find for my dad to use instead of his laptop's keyboard. The keys are a little more spread out than on a laptop plus it has a number pad/keypad which always comes in handy when running numbers/calculations. The keyboard is very reliable, it has lasted more than two years at this point, it is quite durable, no damage whatsoever, and it is very quiet, as compared to my own mechanical keyboard. There is no issue with key 'stickiness', the necessary keys are always in perfect reach for my hand, and I am able to elevate or lower the keyboard depending on how I want to type.

Buy this product if you want a basic, albeit quality, keyboard for your typing needs.

I type a lot. This is a no frills, standard keyboard that works well for typing with all keys just where your fingers expect them to be.

My old standard keyboard was noisy and the letters had worn off the keys. For not much more than 10 bucks this keyboard works great. The keys seem easy to press, having a slight texture on the surface and being indented just enough to result in fewer bad keystrokes when typing in a hurry. Typing is easy with all the keys just where my fingers expected them to be. No need to get used to a different keyboard layout. Note: it has full sized; Enter, Shift and Backspace keys.

The keys and keyboard are not the quietest. Maybe I am a 'heavy typer'. But the rubber feet are not the best, so I use a folded cloth under the keyboard which quietens it down significantly on my desk.

Overall, this standard keyboard is a great value that is easy to use and has no unneeded extras, and comes with free shipping. What more could you want in a basic keyboard.

Okay, not the best, but VERY good for the price.

Keyboards are a problem. When you finally find one that you like, it feels good on tactile repsonse, the speed the board can operate at, and all of those things seem just right...... it dies. How typical with life,eh? :-)
Now the search for one that does all of that yet does not cost upwards towards $80 or more begins...... this explains my story.
a: I had a LOT of trouble with boards that just did NOT cut the mustard as they used to say it: sticky keys, bad tactile response, poor speed or unable to keep up with even good typing speeds accurately, or too stiff, etc etc.
example: I love my $50 Logitec board but, it semi-regularly will latch up in the internal electronics and lock a key "on" so that it will not stop printing that number/letter, or punctuation mark. The board must be disconnected from the USB to stop it.... nothing else will do it. Good thing about USB: you CAN disconnect the board, reconnect, and have it still work without having to restart your computer! :-)
b: This MicroSoft board has a rather "stiff" tactile feel, but it does work well and on Amazon I only paid $10 for it. The board will easily keep up with my more limited key typing speeds of under 40 wpm, and it just simply works! No stuck keys, no latch-ups, and for $10? No complaints.
Of course I sure DO wish it was as nice of a feel and that it had the response of my $50 Logitech, but for $10, come on.... how can you ask for more and still be reasonable. I would and will buy these again if needed.

Perfect for ten-key

I needed a keyboard to hook up to my laptop for work that had a good ten-key. I wanted something basic. I asked my husband to get one at the local store and he came home withe one that had the zero key and arrows in strange places! So- it was to Amazon I went in search. I am very picky when it comes to keyboards. I type A LOT and fast.. but I have acrylic finger nails so the keys have to be just right. This keyboard is perfect! The keys are not the flat type, they have the good clicking noise but not too loud. They are shaped perfectly and everything is in the right place. Very standard! I cannot recommend this keyboard enough. If you type a lot and use the number pad a lot this is the best keyboard for such a fantastic price!

If you are looking for a USB keyboard that will just work and that doesn't cost too much, look no further. I bought this thing on Amazon for right around ten bucks about three years ago, and it is still going strong (though the legends on a few keycaps have faded). I used this keyboard for much of my time as a college student, writing essays and surfing the web and playing PC games, and it withstood it all with no hiccups.

As a matter of fact, this thing is such simple quality that I didn't even retire it because it stopped working; I merely happened to upgrade myself to a mechanical keyboard, and thus shelved it about a month or two ago. I've been using old Dell keyboards from yesteryear's PC systems that have long since gone from my house, replaced by custom built PCs. Decided to get a new keyboard for my own custom PC build, and even though I looked long and hard at some of the mid-level gaming keyboards, etc., I decided to give this basic keyboard a try since it has an identical layout to the old Dells that I've been using for like a decade now. I'm glad I went with this one. It's a great basic keyboard that translates to no learning curve for these old fingers. I'm playing games and typing on it just fine. I can type at over 100 wpm when I'm on a roll, and this keyboard has no problems keeping up with me.

UPDATE 10/5/2015: Some of the character labels are coming off the keys. I'm a 25-year career network engineer, and I've never had a keyboard do this before. It's gotten to the point that I'm going to have to buy a new keyboard because some of the characters are simply gone. Lowered the review from 5 stars to 3.
