Magnify

With a simple press and hold motion, the Magnifier enlarges the area of your screen that fits inside the lens. You can easily adjust both the size of the lens and the level of its magnification. You can even use it when you touch up your photos or handle other detailed tasks. The Magnifier works in most programs.

Note that the Magnifier is not compatible with Direct3D API in full screen mode, media players, OpenGL, and layered windows. If you are using Mac OS X, the Magnifier enlarges text and images on the entire screen.

I used this mouse for about a year on my work PC, and after that time it stopped working (the laser went out). So, I called Microsoft support and with just a few questions answered they shipped me out the latest and greatest version of the mouse absolutely free, without the hassle of returning the broken device. Microsoft has done this for me with their hardware time and time again and that's why I keep buying it... sure they devices may go out after a year or two of use but with a simple phone call I can get them upgraded and replaced for free.

There is something quite wrong with the Laser Mouse 6000, the shape is not right, it's kind of shallow. I have to be conscious every time I grab this mouse so that I don't to hit the side buttons. All in all, terrible.

I was a bit hesitant to order this mouse in the first place, as every Microsoft mouse I have ever used has felt cheap and just hadnt performed as well as say a Logitech. But, I figured I might as well try it, and if I dont like it Ill just return it.

Once I receieved it I was initially pleasently surprised. It didnt feel quite as cheap as I was expecting. It was still extremely light so it didnt have that going for it. But I really like the scroll wheels on the newer Microsoft mice. They have a nice feel to them and scroll quite nicely. The only thing I really didnt like initially (besides the lack of weight for the mouse) was that the thumb buttons were poorly designed, they moved one to the other side for a pinky button, much like the Razer Boomslangs. After using Logitech mice for, well a good 4 years or so that just wasnt well thought out.

But after some regular use of it, I had gotten used to those things and actually quite liked it. I was pretty sure I was going to keep it. But then I started gaming and with quick movements, the mouse just spazzes out and goes wherever. At first I figured it was just me, but then I was able to replicate it over and over and that was it for the mouse.

So, final say...if you dont game, this mouse is great. But if you have any quick movements, it cant handle it. I really had high hopes for this one, but it just turned out to be just another Microsoft mouse.

This mouse is easy to use, it has 5 buttons, but like the review title says, this mouse will wake your computer up from screen saver mode randomly, this happens about a minute or so after your computer enters screen saver mode, the screen saver will exit without you ever touching or moving the mouse, it has something to do with the way this mouse was built, perhaps its too sensitive who knows, i tried it on 2 different computers one with windows xp and another one with windows vista and this happened in both instances, the only way to get around this issue is to either use screen saver that ignores mouse events (the type that only exits on keyboard stroke) or if you flip the mouse upside down. I've had this mouse for about 4 years and it's also developed another problem, if you press and hold left mouse button (to drag and drop something) you have to press it really hard or else the button will release by itself.

This is a solid mouse. I gave up on blue tooth and other wireless mice. This one is super accurate on any surface, and I definately have two surfaces that put the others to the challenge (they failed). One is a marble counter top, the other is a simple desk with a varnish.

I bought three...

I already have a serial port, Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 version for my desktop. Its very good for my 1st person, shooter gaming. When I got my Alienware laptop, it was only logical to keep my game play at the same level, as my desktop. This Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 is a USB and perfect for my needs. So far, zero problems and it works as expected. I'm still owning noobs, on the road!!!

I've rarely had bad experiences with Microsoft mice or keyboards. Usually they tend to have above average design and put thought into the product.

They evidently didn't hire the "good" designer to work on this product however as this mouse has 2 glaring faults.

#1: The shallow height and shape of the mouse is such that it offers no support for your hand whatsoever. This causes hand strain and inconsistent hand placement as you use it. You never get the feeling that your hand is in "the right position".

#2: The side buttons are in brain dead locations. Why this is I have no idea, as other Microsoft models put the left side button right where your thumb would be if you move your thumb up slightly (the way it should be). On this "gaming" mouse the left thumb button is much too far forward causing you to have to practically re-adjust your grip on the mouse just to press it. Couple this with problem #1 and the lack of surface contact with your hand causes the mouse to skew under your hand as you press the button thus turning your player to one side when you didn't intend to. Just what you don't want when throwing a grenade.

The right button is sort of click-able with your pinky and is actually the more accessible button, but it feels more due to luck than planning.

I have to wonder if they even tested this design with any gamers at all before putting it out on the street.

I give it 2 stars because for the attempt at wireless feel with the thin cord, and it looks visually appealing. Calling this a "gaming" mouse however and charging a premium for it is a joke you should spare yourself being the butt of.

Rating: Not Recommended.

when it was working it was fine... the two buttons on the sides that are customizable were kinda fun but often got in the way. It started giving me skipping trouble about 3 months ago and now has completely lost connectivity with the USB port. I just got another mouse and it works great so it was the mouse not my laptop. Was good when I first bought it about 1.5 years ago... now it has totally died.
