Not compatible with Win10

In a nutshell, not compatible with Windows 10, even though Microsoft's website says so.

All seemed well for the first 3-4 minutes...webcam was recognized, webcam was ready. When started on Skype, or Hangouts, or ManyCam, or any other cam software the camera flickered. And it flickered bad. From mid-screen down. I reloaded drivers, no luck. The cam software is so outdated that Windows won't load it even in a Win7 compatibility mode.

I know the webcam works as I tried on my wife's Win7 laptop and it worked fine.

UPDATE: FORGET IT: THIS DOESN'T WORK WITH WINDOWS 10...we use windows 10 pro and have 365...we plugged the darn thing in and it automatically installed itself and told us so. There is no instruction book (therefore, I guess) and the little fat book simply is safely disclaimers etc in many languages. I would give this a big 5 fat 5 star but my techie son said the rubber adjustable clamp that goes on my monitor screen is "so so" in his opinion. I liked it. works as soon as it automatically installs. Fast delivery with my Prime. Tough installation

This camera came with no instructions and no installation discs, It came from an Amazon supplier who wasn't able to help me at all. She simply said ... "that's the way they come from the manufacturer" and she referred me to Microsoft. I spent 48 minutes on the phone with M/S with a woman who knew less than I did about the installation and I finally figured it out myself by reading a YouTube review. This particular camera has no software, only firmware and you enable it by clicking in the start button under cameras and it connected. Once we knew how, it took about 5 seconds, but the fact that neither the seller nor the manufacturer could tell me that was very annoying. I don't know if it is working at the other end but at least I know it will record me and the picture quality seems great, although the auto-focus kept trying to focus constantly. All in all, if I didn't need the darn thing, I'd send it back and be done with it. Another casualty of COVID-19 and working at home. I'm thankful I have a job to use it for, but what a pain. Couldn't they put some simple instructions in the package?

Very dim picture, no way to adjust.

I installed this on computer that also had a webcam, but that web cam is intermittent and the computer microphone is poor. So ordered this web cam. Unfortunately, the image in Skype and Camera is VERY DARK, much darker than the image from the built in web cam. This webcam comes in a brown box with absolutely no instructions and there is no downloaded software in order to provide features like zoom and brightness. In other words, though Microsoft is charging full price, they DO NOT PROVIDE SOFTWARE to allow you to adjust the brightness or zoom, and the new version of their Skype software deleted all these features that would have allowed people to make these adjustments when the camera first came out. By deleting all the features needed to operate this camera and adjust its brightness, it is pretty much worthless as a camera. On the other hand, the microphone part is very good.

The media could not be loaded.

When I got the package, it wasn't in an official box. Just those bubble-wrap lined yellow packaging bags. Kinda made me concerned if the item is what I ordered or it is fine. When I opened the bag I found the camera, no damage found. Thankfully.
Plugged it in my computer, installed the driver successfully then it needed it's software.

So here's where the problem begins:

This webcam does not like webcam softwares (Windows Lifecam and Cyberlink). Not even it's own (Windows Lifecam). Perhaps it might record better in using said programs, but it starts doing weird things. Such as the pitch in the audio goes down, video speeds up or slows down and sometimes it stops recording and includes the length of how long it is on. So a pseudorecording we can call it? Very strange things. However, the webcam still holds 720p. Auto-focus is a little annoying but if you know how to make it focus by moving around or shining a light on it, it's okay.

Best software I used with it: Windows Live Moviemaker.

With Moviemaker, I did not get the same problems as I did with the other programs. So that's better for recording with the webcam.

You can move the webcam around in a 360 angle, move it and set it down wherever you want as long it remains connected to the computer. OH! Also the cord has this little doo-hicky that helps you keep the cord in place so you don't get a tangled mess. That's a plus right thar! :D

Microphone is great. Keeps most sound out and compared to most built-in webcams (My computer is a Compaq Presario CQ57 by the way.) the recorded sound is a hell of a lot more crisper.

Every time the webcam is in use, a blue light comes out from the bottom of the lens. Don't worry, won't get recorded unless you hold a mirror to it.

Aluminum body is a plus, so that it doesn't get damaged as easily.

Overall: Great, if nothing else suits your fancy.

Its runs as a device and functions for zoom but it's constantly refocusing and because there's no software you can't turn the re-focus feature off. There's no way to interface with the camera settings beyond what your platform (Zoom for example) offers if you're on windows 10.
