Nice little camera

I got this for my desktop that doesn't have a camera because I needed to use Skype at home. The camera is small and easily fits on top of my monitor. The attachment is loose so it doesn't damage the top of the monitor and it will fit a pretty deep unit. The lead is long enough to reach from top of a big monitor to the back of case and the cable is pretty light which prevents lead drag.

On connection windows (I use windows 7) downloads the software for you and it includes a decent range of functions useful and silly. (I do like the pink hair and dark glasses option!) Setup is very easy and Skype instantly recognized the camera and asked me to set it up which was also very easy and intuitive. (there is also a zoom function in Skype). It is in focus from about 6 inches to infinity so autofocus is not necessary.

Quality is good enough, the unit copes with low light well and can run in 720 HD mode but it seems to perform better at 800x600 mode. The video in either case is stutter free on record and the microphone is actually quite good. Although there is little in the way of noise suppression, Skype seem to do that because the sound quality on testing was better than on just record and playback mode.

Sound volume is good. I sit about 4ft from the screen and the volume and quality is still excellent.

Just works-no worries

The product arrived in one of those oh-so-much-fun clamshells. You know the kind, the type that takes 15 minutes and two fingers as well to properly open for all the parts. After paying my dues, the camera was attached to my cousin's monitor via the bendable stand foot and camera lip (see picture) and plugged into a USB port. After going through the standard new hardware detected routine, we were ready to go. Using Skype as the connectivity to another computer, the picture was great. Looks good, tastes great. Get one.

Nice for the price, tiny, flexible mount.

I was very pleased to find the mount is flexible and weighted so I don't have to stick this thing to the monitor. The mount is very bendy, I would call it the Gumby mount. Plug and play with Windows 7. There are a lot of special effects which are really goofy, like a house of mirrors, hats on your head, stars above your head, question marks, light bulb, etc., so your young kids will probably get a kick out of that. Only one that looked useful to me was the B&W mode at the push of a mouse button. Easy to adjust, has telephoto and pans and tilts slightly when in telephoto mode. Record features, Blue light on unit when it is on and working. For the price, I am quite happy with it.

I use 4 of these excellent and inexpensive webcams to monitor every angle of approach to my house. I bought a VERY CHEAP program on my IPHONE called ICAM and now I can see my house from anywhere in the world 24 hours a day and ICAM will RECORD every MOVEMENT too..Best security system there ever was, and the least expensive! This whole system cost about $100.00. You can do it too, The picture clarity is GREAT, even in low light..

I'm old, so I like simple and efficient. This little camera not only meets my criteria, but it works! Just like it's supposed to! Amazing! I just plugged it in (USB- nothing simpler than that) and it set it self up in my computer, and I turned on skype and had fun with my grandkids. Great picture-my grandson kept trying to kiss the screen! Great sound, even the squabbling came through loud and clear. This is technology that I can appreciate.

Decent value for occassional calls

The video quality is good. Audio pick is good. No one on the other end of my calls has complained.

Driver install on Windows 7 64-bit was a bit finicky and had to be redone after unplugging and reconnecting to a different USB port which seemed silly.

The Mount is rather sad. Simple, yes. It does not rotate side to side so you have to move yourself to the center of frame. It falls off my monitor with even a little bump. I use this primarily on my office desktop monitor so it does not travel much. It is quite small and light so carrying around would not be an issue.

As I only make occasional video calls from my office desk this is adequate. If you spend all day on video probably a higher end camera would be worth the investment.
