So the highest priority is does the wireless capability work reliably? I'm pleased to say it does. I've yet to have a connection issue and everything was a perfect plug and play, although it did take a little more time than normal for windows 7 to find and load drivers and install the special corresponding microsoft software. That said software does give you some nice customization options, I didn't need any tweaks myself, but it's nice to know you have options and I'm sure if you're peculiar about your keyboard and mouse setup you'll really enjoy those options.
For typing, I find the keys slightly "loose" feeling which gave me a slightly less satisfying typing experience than the standard wired rubber dome microsoft keyboard I was using before. The keys have a very low profile and nice soft rounded edges whihc helps mitigate errant strokes. The function buttons have been flattened and elongated which isn't bad except for the escape button. I like a nice easy to find and hit escape button in the top left corner and I find myself missing it on this board quite frequently. The board also includes a special row of buttons at the top.
Unlike the other keys, they're built into the chassis of the board and require a very deliberate press, almost annoyingly deliberate. What is nice about this row though is that five buttons on the left side will correspond to and open the programs you have pinned to your taskbar. I really enjoy this feature and I wish it would have been expanded to more buttons in place of the media and zoom buttons which most folks aren't going to be using often in a productivity setting anyway.
The build quality is pretty solid and the board won't move around on a desk even with the legs up. It includes a wrist guard in front with a very interesting texture that's simultaneously solid and soft feeling. I never require a wrist guard, but I don't find its inclusion here a bad thing.
The board is fairly glossy which looks very nice out of the box, but I've already picked up some fingerprint smudges.
As for the mouse, it's very light for a wireless mouse with 2 AA batteries in it. It glides along very nicely over a wood desk. The click is very heavy and audible. You'll never question whether you fully clicked something or not. I kind of like this, but I can see some folks thinking its too heavy. The wheel is very different than most I've used. It isn't graduated but rather rolls freely which gives it a nice feel. I do find scrolling downward to be somewhat limited though from my resting position. You have a lot more room to scroll down if you're using a claw method, which I don't. The wheel click requires a lot more force than others I've used which is disappointing as I use wheel click while browsing very often.
TL;DR - This combo has some very nice features and some quirks, but it does exactly what I need it to reliably and at a very competitive price point.
I work from home 50 plus hours a week. I use my computer all the time! As a professional I need equipment that will meet the demands of my profession and this equipment does not.
