Oh and to top things off I can't return it because as it turns out you only have 1 month to decide if you want to return. While the size and concepts are all great... I have more issues than it's worth and am very dissatisfied.
Really great device. I love the size, the usability and the functionality all built into this tablet / laptop / full PC :) The pen needs a better place holder though. It just attaches to the side via a magnet and the tip was damaged in the process of taking it in and out of my bag.
I'm sure I've only scratched the surface of what this tablet will do and I look forward to learning new and streamlined ways of using it.
I've owned mine for 6 weeks now and this is what I can say for certain about the MS Surface Pro 4 that I purchased new:
Pros (described above):
Intuitive user interface
There's no getting around it: investing in a MS Windows 2-in-1 is an expensive proposition. I did a lot of comparison shopping and the specs of the unit I bought for just over $600 can easily be had from other major vendors for $400. The stylus (another cool, but optional, feature of the Surface devices) cost $100. The keypad was $120. Ouch!
The most vexing down side to this unit is the battery life. The manufacturer indicates an expected battery life of 10 hours to a full charge. Ha! I always use mine in "battery saver mode" and do not do a lot of battery-intensive things like stream videos yet the absolute best I've wrung out of a full charge was 6 hours. That is inexcusable in my book.
If I knew then what I know now I'm not certain if I'd have bought this device or not. It's a very close call. Since I do own it, though, I'm making the most of it, exploring the cool things it does and taking my computing with me on the go...
In short,2 major screen issues right out of the box. I went on line to see if anyone else had a similar problem and found that the issue was long known and that Microsoft had no real fix. Their fix seemed to be replacing the broken machine with another of the same series and hope for the best.
I had no intention of replacing one defective device with perhaps another so I returned it two days after it arrived. Both Amazon and the vendor provided return instructions without a fuss, though I don't get a refund until they get the defective machine.
I next did an internet search to see if newer versions of the surface pro had the same issue. I could not find anything like the screen issues with the Surface Pro 6 so I ordered that as a more expensive replacement, which I should see in a couple of days...
So, bottom line, stay far away from the Surface Pro 4 as its health is a coin toss. It might work fine OR it might be junk in an expensive box...Let the buyer beware.

The pen tip does not work at all and seems to be broken. It has no use for what i needed it for, big waste of time and money. I will know never to get refurbished again...
Though it is a very functional piece of hardware with a pressure sensitive screen, great for artists wanting to bring their work on the go.
But I'm not too confident bringing it out because of how expensive it is.
Emulating android on it is great if you set the resolution to 800p.
The tablet cannot handle rendering anything at max resolution without performance hiccups, and this is where I think it starts falling apart.
The Core M is competent, but not great.
