How can I explain the character of Claire? Frustrating, stubborn, and completely faithful to the core. Claire returns to San Francisco after divorcing her husband for cheating with her best friend. Years later she is in California with her daughters trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart.
Johnathan is a billionaire success story who has worked his way into an elite stays by being absolutely brilliant. On New Years Eve he bumps into a woman that he can't forget. With unlimited resources he must find this woman and know more about her. As fate would have it he bumps into her at the grocery store but is immediately shot down.
Claire works as a marketing director and guess who owns the company. Claire is damaged from the past and cannot and will not trust another man with her heart.
Can Johnathan be the man to make her change her mind? Can Claire really find the happily ever after that she thought she had?
I purchased the box set and had the story from start to finish and I absolutely loved this book. The beginning is kind of hard to get through but keep reading because the meat of the story will hang on to you and you will not want to put the book down!
The 1st book left me so happy and a real "feel good" euphoria. It had it's little frustrations such as Claire's reluctance on getting involved with Jonathan, but overwhelmingly sweet good read.
2nd book was so incredibly frustrating I wanted to throw my iPad against the wall. Extreme bridezilla from HELL! Come on, she's 40 and she has already been married once and she acts like a very immature child planning a birthday party. Really turned me off.
Other thing about the 2nd book that I did to like is how the ex-husbands wife/her ex-best friend conflict was settled. It reminded me the opposite of love is not hate- but indifference. Claire displayed no indifference or maturity at all. She had everything- herself and she displayed lack of maturity there too.
1. Claire/ the, was a little too old for the H. Eleven years for me is too old, never work in reality and my brains could not stop imagining Claire with wrinkles in a few years while Jonathan just still looked rock hard hott. Single digits older like 3-8 years would have been better for my imagination.
2. Claire, her daughters and even her mother were made too eager to grap all that Jonathan had to give I.e. Money and gift wise. Claire in particular, should have at least appear to be resistant in accepting all the gifts and debt clearance from Jon. She should at least say, "I will pay you back someday when I start my successful business". Which she obviously did, since she was "intelligent, strong and independent"
3. I love kids so I guess the fact that the H did not want any was disheartening and I kept hoping that things would change in the end and she would get pregnant and he would change his mind and be happy with it but low and behold that did not happen.
Other than the above this author appears to be a gifted writer, my third book by her, the other 2 were both 5 star worthy and this one, though my least favourite, may work for some, so give it a try and read her other 2 books. Also the excerpt on Twisted sounds promising, when will it be released? Can't wait!!!!
Despite these things it’s a sweet story. There’s Claire’s crazy friend Helen to add a dose of humor, some sexy times are thrown in for good measure, a little mama drama, and there’s no cliffhanger.
Book 2 picks up with Claire and Jonathan preparing for their wedding. Claire has a thriving new interior design business and she is (thankfully!) no longer bothered that Jonathan is much younger. Just when everything seems perfect, Claire’s ex-husband shows up to throw her life into a tailspin. It’s a quick read, made more enjoyable due to Claire’s character development.

I loved everything about this series! I almost didn't read because of a review about how unrealistic it was that there could be an 11 year difference. But this is a must read. Read morePublished 10 months ago by Cheryl Baptiste
