~ Jane Hinchey, Shadow Shifter ~
If I can't trust a cupcake what can I trust? My favorite story is Ben and Kristina's - really unexpected plot, funny touches, engaging, and I breezed right through it. Kristina is immediately likable, Ben is a hottie, and they have great chemistry together. Love. I totally recommend picking this one up.
SHADOW SHIFTER BY JANE HINCHEY
4 stars. This book is a standalone with no cliffhanger and has an HEA. The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat all of that info here. While at first glance, this seems like a quick predictable read. But is filled with twists and turns that will keep you guessing.

Kristina was baking in her kitchen, talking to her cat, when the doorbell rang. A gorgeous man stood there. Unfortunately, Ben was a Watcher investigating Ted McNeil’s death from one of the cupcakes she had baked for a party she had catered. Because the victim died of poison and not choking as assumed, the Watcher had to investigate and Kristina was on the suspect list. He was actually trying to clear her name. But Kristina was not willing to sit idly by and have her reputation ruined. Already several catering customers had cancelled on her! So despite repeated warnings by Ben to let him handle it, she plunged in and investigated on her own.
Kristina returned home after a busy day of baking cookies for her store. She had eliminated several suspects through her questioning. As she put her key in the door, a dark figure shoved her out of the way and ran. Her kitchen was in shambles! She phoned Ben and he took her to the hospital since she struck her head on the driveway when she was pushed. The next day, partially to keep her safe, Ben took her along while he questioned a few more suspects. What were the clues pointing to? Would they be able to find out the truth of this cupcake murder before someone else gets killed?
The author’s writing was outstanding! The story line moved briskly along, and the characters were very likable. The twists and turns kept the reader constantly guessing at what would happen next. This was a delightful story and I highly recommend it, as well as other excellent selections in the box set! It is well worth the purchase!!!
