So many phrases and so much humor and creativity. Difficult to read without focused concentration-remember the things that confuse you at the start of her books to unlock the mysteries later (or they will appear as logic leaps if you forget them! )
Done talking-moving on to the next in the series! Enjoy!
This is an exception to that rule. Matthew - originally not the sharpest sorcerer in the pencil box - is a great anti-hero. There are certainly characters (at least briefly) from the first book. There are also a whole group of new, morally-ambiguous characters in the Aldermen.
I also particularly like the way that Griffin describes London - it reads like a love letter to the history, grit, and depth of that city. I eagerly await her next novel in this series.
"Angels" is my favorite book in my collection - as such, I had very high expectations for this one. Kate certainly delivered, above and beyond. She has a fantastic style, able to weave imaginative descriptions in without becoming overbearing. Even though I knew that Swift (and the angels) would pull through in the end, the suspense kept me reading for six hours straight the night I picked up the book. It was easy to follow the story, and I can't wait to see what Ms. Griffin writes next.
This sequel certainly does justice to the original work.
