A story of a May and November relationship with Janie Smithwick, a widow, fighting her attraction and pull to Tyler Jenkins. She knew she was too old for him as a 36 year old and Tyler almost 25.
Tyler was a ranch hand and still lived with his parents, is this why Janie thinks he is too young for her? No, Janie believes that Tyler will eventually tire of her and find a beautiful woman his own age? Her heart was at risk and she knew she couldn’t risk a broken heart again.
Tyler is not only a ranch hand but a handsome rodeo star. He can have any women he wants, and he has. He is tired of one night stands and wants a relationship with someone with depth and someone he can really love. One memorable night with Janie and Tyler knows that she is the one. Tyler doesn’t care about the age difference, but, he could not convince Janie to even go out on a date in public.
When Janie told him to leave and then accepted a “date” with her neighbor Rohn, Tyler’s boss, he was heartbroken. He decided that he wanted her happy and would leave her alone. But, Janie knew she messed up, was it too late to convince Tyler that she made a mistake and wanted an opportunity to prove it to him?
Find out. Don’t miss this new series.
Tyler was totally cowboy awesome. I loved his depth and sincerity even tho he hid it.
Janie was right to be worried and scared to jump back into life, especially with a hot young cowboy with a reputation, but Tyler was oh so persistent.
Just goes to prove that age shouldn't really matter in an adult relationship. That being said, there was plenty of humor and heat to go around making this an absolute joy to read with a great intro to more hot Cowboys, no matter what their age.
What I love about Cat Johnson's books is that she never disappoints me and Midnight Ride is no exception.
Janie is the "older woman" in this relationship and Cat expertly weaved through all of the emotions that were felt by Janie and by Tyler with this in their minds. Tyler didn't get off to the best start with Janie but as the story unfolded, it was obvious that there was so much more to Tyler now that he had met Janie. He was so protective of her and the way he went about looking after her and helping her out was heart warming.
The added bonus to this story was seeing more of Tyler's brother, Tucker (One night with a Cowboy) and some of the other characters from the Oklahoma Night's series.
Janie and Tyler's story was absolutely beautiful. Their slow burning romance left me smitten and content. Fantastic writing, distinctive and romantic storyline, and an emotional pull that kept me hooked from page one.
I can't wait to read Rohn's story in Midnight Wrangler!
