frankly, by about a 1/4 way through I was alreafu tired of hearing them talk to each other. The main characters were; Zance - a wolf shifter, Dontoya- a black couger shifter/ shaman, & Sherilyn - a Ubarian decendent (an interstellar space taveling felin species with psychic powers). She supposedly lost her brother, Tod, in the system somewhere when their parents died when they were children. We later find out he was "taken away" for his own safety - apparently Sherilyn's safety was a moot point?
This story could have easily been half its length if the oh so annoying nicknames had been cut. Especially in those circumstances where BOTH their names & nicknames are used in the same sentence.
Zance's many names included: Z-dog (36 times), Cowboy Wolf/ Wolf Cowboy (15),Wolf stud (44), Big bad wolf (11), then there was wolf boy, wolf dog, wolf man & let's please remember to mention 25 TIMES that he healed her with his "wolf juice" (saliva)!
Dontoya became Donny-cat (87 times), & Cougar cowboy (17).
The men , together, becames studs, either wolf stud or cougar stud (44 times), & the cowboys (144 times).
Most annoying of all was the author's insistence that the guys call each other these same names & that they speak "old west". So they called each other "pardner" (yes, with a "d") or simply pard, & things that bothered them were "guldurned" (gall darned).
3/4 of the way through it was determined that Sherilyn needed a cutesy name too. She became Sheri Kat, sigh...
Sherilyn had little backbone & always acquiesced to what her men wanted. They move her horses w/o asking. They rent her house out w/o asking - after moving her in with them w/o asking - see a pattern here? Don't worry though, because she's okay, with everything!
Despite all of the above, it was an okay read. The sex scenes were pretty well written, the premise has promise - with some solid editing. I'll give it 2.5 stars.
