It is important that you do not get discouraged because you will love this series AND if you go to the author's web page right now you can get a free download of a novella to be read as #6. If You Kiss Me. Happy Reading!
You would think by the book sampler and reviews, that the heroine would be less eager to surrender her body and soul to the hero, unfortunately for me, that was not the case at all. The heroine is instantly in lust with him and soon after she is also desperetely in love. The hero on the other hand is smugly satisfied that he has obtained his goal of having her fall for him, but not willing to reciprocate said love. Oh he is very willing to use her to satisfy his lust, as well as marry her for the sake of his inheritance, but stubbornly refusing to give her anything at an emotional level, even when she is practically begging him to love her. He responds by demanding she confesses that she loves him ((even when he is absolutely sure that she indeed loves him) while keeping his heart to himself and no words of affection crossing his lips. Manipulating her with his seductive skills to bend her to his will as a master puppeteer.
Eventually she does abandons all pride and confesses to him that she loves him, he again is arrogantly pleased with the declaration but does not reciprocate. Why would he? when he does not realize he loves her, until almost the end of the book. In the meantime the reader is subjected again and again to the agonizing musings of the heroine concerning her unrequited love, For almost half the book (the second half) the plot revolves around the heroine's desperate efforts to have the hero love her. This is not my idea of romance. She give her all, while the hero takes and takes some more, yet keeps his emotional distance from her, until almost the end of this awfal book. And she accepts the status quo, allowing him to take every liberty he wants with her body and professing her love for him again and again, because she is just so besotted with him. . For me, beyond dreadful.
This is another highly entertaining story that will have you laughing and fully engaged in their story. The story also has drama and suspense along with the wonderful humor, and of course, some great romance too! Again, another well-written story with very lovable characters.
I am never disappointed with anything from this author. Highly recommended!
