I’m new to using a wood stove. In the first two months of use, I found that, while getting good coals and burn, the stove itself didn’t seem to be generating a lot of heat. Turns out, I was suffocating the fuel and keeping the stove below 400 degrees when I checked with my laser thermometer.My friend recommended a few strategies to improve the efficiency of the stove and suggested I pick up one of these wood stove thermometers. Efficiency has been too notch since and I don’t need to worry that I’m exacerbating a creosote build up! (Though you should get your chimney swept every season!)

My friend recommended a few strategies to improve the efficiency of the stove and suggested I pick up one of these wood stove thermometers. Efficiency has been too notch since and I don’t need to worry that I’m exacerbating a creosote build up! (Though you should get your chimney swept every season!)
