Editorial Reviews

Review

"Midwife Peggy Vincent is a consummate story-teller. Thiscollection of her stories is wildly entertaining and full of wisdom."
-- Ina May Gaskin, midwife, mentor, teacher, lecturer, and author ofinternationally acclaimed "Spiritual Midwifery"

"Each one of Peggy Vincent's beautifully crafted birthing tales grabbed my heart and filled me with awe. Certain stories made me chuckle, others caused me to catch my breath or brought tears to my eyes.  A truly captivating collection of  childbirth stories, told by a midwife whose passion for her work shines through every word."
-- Victoria Twead, New York Times and Wall Street Journal international bestselling author of "Chickens, Mules and Two Old Fools"

About the Author

In 1980, after fifteen years as a delivery room nurse, ten years as a childbirth educator, and three years as the director of the first alternative birth center in Berkeley, CA, PEGGY VINCENT became a Certified Nurse Midwife. Initially attending only home births, three years later Peggy became the first independent nurse midwife in the area to be granted hospital privileges. Her memoir, Baby Catcher: Chronicles of a Modern Midwife, was published in 2002 by Scribner and has been optioned for a potential TV mini-series. Now retired and living in Oakland, CA, with Roger, her husband of more than fifty years, she still enjoys putting in a cameo appearance at special home births now and then. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
