For context, I have an 80 lb dog and a 120 lb dog who sheds and rolls. And a 5 year old. And a yard in which no grass will grow. I'm allergic to everything in the standard skin and blood tests, mostly 4s, if that means anything to you. I used to fill a Dyson Big Ball Animal 2 every two days, and it smelled and I couldn't empty it without sneezing.
Suction: I'd compare it to a good shopvac. But this one's quiet and has multiple settings.
Sound: I get most of my vacuuming done at night when everyone else is asleep, and no one complains. You can have a conversation while vacuuming. My dogs were terrified of my Dyson and they don't mind the Miele.
Ease of use: The Parquet Twister head is amazing. I can get under and in between everything. I can even vacuum if my family leaves me a mess. The wand is longer and more adjustable than any other vacuum I've used, and it's effortless to control. It's quick to pull off the wand and slide the brush down to get into some little area and go right back to vacuuming if, like me, you need to vacuum literally every surface in your house.
Allergies: I used to get a runny nose while vacuuming with my Dyson. No dust comes out of the Miele's exhaust. The canister opens more than 90 degrees, and the opening is large, so emptying is not a mess. The extra dust filter makes a huge difference. if you didn't know, it has a fine dust filter that contains the smaller dust particles and can be emptied wet so it doesn't become airborne. I can carefully empty the canister inside even with my allergies, and I used to have to beg someone else to empty my Dyson outside.
I'm not the kind of person who buys expensive things if a cheap one will do. I worked all the way up the vacuum ladder hoping to find something that worked, but now that I've used this vacuum I'd easily pay double the price for it because it's made that much of a difference in my quality of life. Buy it. Or buy the electric head model if you have carpet. The only other difference in all the Miele canister models is the attachments, and they're generally cheaper separately anyway. If you can afford this vacuum there is no way you will regret the purchase.
I’ve had the bag less for about 2 months now, emptying the container is easy, not messy and the kids use it easily as well- I’d say money well spent!
The rest is perfect.
