Whether you are in the recording studio, at a performing arts center, or in a multipurpose room, the best performance demands the best equipment. The Duet2 LED Music Light enhances one of our most popular models with features that benefit orchestras, bands, and any performers who play under controlled lighting. Two separate flexible goosenecks are outfitted with two LEDs each, providing up to four possible light levels. Offering twice the intensity of the Duet, the Duet2 brightens two to three pages of sheet music. Tap-on power buttons make it easier for musicians to prep quickly for performances. This professional grade music stand light is ideal for those who leave nothing to chance; use the optional AC adapter to keep the music coming, encore after encore.

I use one of these for my large pedal board and have bought the optional foot that I've velcroed to the board. The lamp is easily detached for storage and transportation. I also have a 10U x 4U mixer case. As my mixer does not have a jack for a lamp I will be buying a second one of these lamps and will glue the optional foot into the case so I can have a quick setup.
The idea of carrying this delicate unit and power supply loose in a gig bag is asking for trouble, so I repurposed an old microphone bag to store it in.
I got this light because after my experiences I just didn't believe that 2 LEDs could ever be bright enough. I considered the Hammerhead with six, but chose this one with four because of the good reviews and the ability to aim each pair the way I wanted to. It also comes with the AC adapter. I can read comfortably for hours with this light. It is actually fine with just one pair of LEDs on, or I can use 1 LED from each arm. One LED on one arm is brighter than my other lights.
Now, I know you are supposed to clip this to a music stand, but I clip it to the headboard of my bed directly behind my head with each arm coming out next to an ear. I have also clipped it to the book, but I'm kind of clumsy having lost sensation and fine motor skills on the left side of my body. The other important thing is that one set of "AAA" batteries will go a long, long time. You can get through Beethoven's 9th at least twice and probably add on Handel's Messiah. I'm at five hours on my first set of batteries.
If you've been disillusioned by other reading lights or are just weary of dropping $22 on an LED reading light, I think you'll be happy with this one. I am and I don't get happy easily.
The one nitpick I have is that the light has a bit of wiggle once in position and would be better with a felt or rubber pad in the clip. I glued a 1x1 inch piece of rubbery shelf liner to the inside of the clip and it improved it immensely. Other than that, I like the light very much.
I also bought the Mighty Bright light cradle, which is very compact and lightweight, yet manages to balance the Encore light quite effectively. It is easy to attach and remove, in case I wish to use the clamp feature.
I had been using battery lamps; I've had little satisfaction with rechargeable units, and hated using disposable batteries. The AC adapter with 13 foot power cord is lightweight and easy to use, running through narrow space in furnishings. The light is also battery capable. The light comes in a nicely made zippered canvas case, with a carrying pouch for the AC adapter.
If you are looking for a light for a music stand, I do think this would be terrific, casting the light only on the page, not into the musician's eyes or into the audience. The light intensity is perfect, not too bright, but fully illuminating the pages. For stage use, the batteries would be great, and the AC for practice at home. The unit does not charge the batteries, so either a separate charger would be needed, or use disposables.
One note: if you are working with several sheets of music simultaneously, the larger Mighty Bright Orchestra light may be more appropriate. Other than a larger size, the features of the Orchestra light and the Encore are identical.
