Product Description

Iron Mike was always at his best when he was in the ring, and in this game, nothing can keep him out. In Mike Tyson Boxing, you'll get everything from the easiest sucker punch to the endgame strategy. Choose from multiple modes of play, including arcade, championship, and boxing management. In versus mode, you can choose from 16 international boxers and 16 arenas. You'll learn to train and manage your boxer, taking on up to 90 fighters in different weight classes. In the showcase mode, you can create a tournament with up to eight players and eight CPU opponents. Be sure to stop by the gym for practice, where you'll familiarize yourself with a full range of punches and defensives, not to mention hidden combinations. If you don't, you'll surely see what your boxer is made of--blood, sweat, and bruises--thanks to the game's real-time effects. The game also features a score bar that reproduces the score system used in boxing and rewards players for outstanding defensive play.

This game has the intensity and action of the first boxing game for activison. The graphics are good, the motions are good, but the game itself can not catch the players interest. It is a average game and I would rent it before buying.

I rented this game expecting a fun, arcadey boxing game. What I got was one of the poorest excuses of a boxing game I have ever seen. The graphics here are not too shabby at all, but are kind of jaggy. The worst thing about this game has to be the collision detection. Many many times I hit my opponent but the hit did not register. This is extremely frustrating, especially when the match would be decided by those hits. Also, when you hit a button on the controller it seems to take about 2-3 seconds to register on screen, and then your guy punches. With 106 boxers you would expect some replay value right? Wrong. The replay value is there but the gameplay itself is so horrible that you don't want to play it anymore after you beat it the first time. IF you beat it once. There is a sort of career mode, where you are guided by Mike Tyson, but this gets very repetitive, and becomes boring very shortly. There is no create-a-boxer mode, and this really brings the score down, because Knockout Kings showed us that you can have a create-a-boxer mode. I can not think of one good thing about this game. Don't rent, don't buy, don't even look at it if you see it in stores.

The only real draw to this game is the fact that it's Mike Tyson. The graphics are average, the music barely tolerable, and the multiplayer mode somewhat lacking. The way the characters move was well done, but it's still not enough to warrant a purchase.
