The origin of MIKESCHAIR was set in a freshman guy's dorm room one night at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. The band's name, MIKESCHAIR, begs for an explanation. "The 'chair' was the central gathering point where we got our start," says Sam. "All of us lived on the same floor of our dorm at Belmont, except for Mike. But, since he was always hanging out with us on our floor, we decided to get him piece of furniture to make him feel a little more at home. The chair was his only piece of property on our floor. He wrote his name on it in big capital letters, and it kind of became his seat of inspiration for writing songs and being creative. The name is a reminder of our humble beginnings and how far God has brought us."

MIKESCHAIR is a very good debut self-titled album this year by a promising new band. I like the history behind the band name and in the past couple of years, Rush of Fools, Tenth Avenue North and Fee have all made a big impact as new bands on the Christian music scene, all having been nominated for best new artist and I expect a similar outcome for MIKESCHAIR. Their sound seems to be a very nice combination of the sound of those acclaimed bands. Right away, the sound of this album had me hooked as opening song "Outside of Me" set the worshipful tone for the whole album. Vocally, Mike reminds me of Wes from Rush of Fools and the second song "Straight To Your Heart" reminded of me "Lose It All" by Rush of Fools both in sound and message about God reaching out and pulling us closer to Him. It has a great keyboard part and instrumentally is my favorite song on the album.

"Back To Life" keeps the rock going, and has a great positive message about "being tired of going through the motions and God bringing us back to life". Great honest straightforward message.

MIKESCHAIR has entered a crowded field in Christian contemporary pop genre. And they give a rock solid performance with this record. Although a couple of the songs are indistinguishable from the herd on current radio playlists, most of the songs have a unique sound that is well above the current acoustic-electric noise. After listening to the whole thing, I would buy this album again.

I was introduced to the music of MikesChair with their second CD "A Beautiful Life". Instantly the songs' lyrics spoke to my heart. I eagerly anticipated the release of their third CD "All Or Nothing", and was not disappointed. Realizing that MikesChair is a Christian group that has produced meaningful Christian music with consistency, I looked for their first CD in the Christian bookstores. They no longer carried it in their catalog, but Amazon came through for me. Now I find myself listening to their first CD, newest release, and second CD repeatedly. The music is good and the lyrics continue to encourage me.

The songs are catchy and still show us some of God, they don't get too old too easy. I listened to this CD over and over. Not too impressed with the new album so it will be interesting to see where this group goes whether in Christian or sectular music.

I've never ordered a used cd before. This one was in great condition and plays perfectly. I have really enjoyed listening to it. I dare say I like it better than their second one, A Beautiful Life. But both are still great cds if you are a die-hard Mikeschair fan like me.

Personally, I really enjoyed this album. It shows a younger side to the group (along with a few different members) and I like that it showcases a more relaxed, acoustic sound to their music with good mix of upbeat songs along with a number of slower, reflective songs.

I particularly enjoyed "Heart's Confessional" (a beautiful song about being after the Lord's heart), "My Lovely" (a wonderful song about how God takes us as are and that's He's not far away), and a fun, a cappella version of Jesus Loves Me, This I Know (For The Bible Tells Me So) at the very end of "Free".

Some people may dislike it because it doesn't "sound like Mikeschair", but I think some fans will truly enjoy a different look at the group and some may warm up to after a few times listening. It's unfortunate that because it's titled the same as their 2009 self titled album, it makes it rather difficult to find along with not being in the official discography. Hopefully, more people will realize that this album exists and grab a copy or, even better, the band re-releases it or includes some tracks in a future compilation. Again, definitely recommended!

Not their finest work. I think its their first EP and it shows. I like Mikeschair, and they tend to have catchy melodies. But this EP is a little slow, and doesent really sound like them. Only paid $5, so i guess it wasnt a terrible waste. Ill remember to research before i buy.

Every song on Mikeschair brings a special message for all ages. There sound is unique and extremely well done! It is obvious that these young men are all very talented and dedicated to Christ in their personal lives. We listen to this CD every time we are in our car and are looking forward for their next release. Think they are on the road to success, and worthy of it!
