I guess I'll just give this a quick pros vs. cons list and hope it helps anyone thinking about purchasing this backpack.
*Many pockets and MOLLE attachment locations
*Zippers work very wll and almost never stick.
*The straps with quick connect/disconnect ends are adjusable in the extreme. (lots of extra slack)
*Very comfortable. Plenty of padding in the arm straps.
*My Laptop fits in the velcro slot undernead the arm straps (just barely 15.6 inch screen) **more on this in cons**
*Heavy duty waist belt strap keeps everything firmly attached to your body and not flopping around.
*If you have a larger laptop (larger than 15.6 inch screen) or gaming laptop (wider) it won't fit in the location behind the arm straps. It will still fit in the main and secondary compartments but will most likely be bouncing around unless you strap it down or fill it with something to keep it from moving.
**I don't know if it was just me but this product took nearly a month and a half (39 days) to arrive. I am currently in Afghanistan but most products can make it here in apx 1-3 weeks.
Besides the long wait this backpack is exactly what I was looking for. It is rugged, well made and inexpensive compared to 5.11's version. Don't worry about the lable, this pack is just as well made and you won't spend twice as much.
I am very happy with this product and plan to buy more after this deployment. One word of advice, it is slightly smaller than I thought it would be for my purposes and I am really glad that I did NOT buy the 30L version of this pack.
Some of the stitching, as mentioned in some reviews, started falling apart after 2 months of super light use. Haven't stopped using it because it's a handy backpack, but I'll have to stop and fix it now in order to continue.
I don't use it more than a few times a month, can't imagine for daily users.
Upon inspection all the seams, zippers and material itself all look to be quality. I filled it up with all my gear and tried it on. Still comfortable, and I have no doubt that it will hold up during use. I'm happy i bought the 50L as I think the 30L may have been a little small for real camping/emergency usage. I feel I could fit a tarp, clothes, towel, bedroll, ammo and all the little accessories I need, PLUS strap stuff on the sides as needed.
There is molle webbing down the front on both pockets as pictured. There are also 2 rows near the back that extend from the bottom almost to the top. There is another row about half the height on the 2nd large compartment, and a row of webbing on the very bottom. The shoulder straps are very thick and well padded, with a D-ring on each side and 4 loops (open horizontally) from the vertical strap that is sewn onto them.. The surface/pocket that contacts your back and holds the water bladder is very well padded too. With a water pack inside, I imagine this bag would be extremely soft on the back.
A really nice thing I noticed is that the handle on top of the pack is wide and stitched to the pack multiple times. This is a nice feature, as often times moving any backpack by this handle tends to lead to ripping.
There are an adequate number of smaller sleeves and webbing inside the pockets to organize smaller items too.
I am so happy with this purchase, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ANY OF THE Mil-Tec backpacks. LOOK NO FURTHER. I WOULD BE HAPPY PAYING NEAR 100$ FOR THIS.
