The Militarization of Space: A Good, Readable and Insightful Look at the Military-Industrial Complex
Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2016Verified Purchase
The Militarization of Space: U. S. Policy, 1945-1984 was a concise explanation of a major part of the history of competition between the services in space and the conflict between the civilian and military for the use of space by the U.S. The book only deals with issues of satellites, not ICBMs or Anti-Missile Missiles (ABM). This makes it slightly less interesting because the satellite issue lacks the drama of ICBM or ABM. The book is, however, a scholarly work written more for the thoughtful history buff than the lower level public. By far the best part is the comparison of how each of the presidents from Ike down to Reagan were either honest or dishonest in their treatment of the military in space. This comparison gives a unique window on how the various presidents either fought the Military-Industrial Complex or were puppets for same. I would recommend this for anyone interested in these historical issues.
