I've been a huge fan of Evan Dorkin's work for years, ever since I first caught a single page Milk & Cheese strip in the back of an issue of a Cerebus reprint in the 90s. Back then when I found out they were recurring characters, all I could think was "Realy? That strip was funny as hell, but I don't see how more comics with the same one-dimensional gag could work." But damn, was I wrong! Milk & Cheese deliver the hate and rage time after time, and it's a testimony to Dorkin's wry brilliance that it somehow stays fresh.
But that was more than a dozen years ago. Flash forward to 2014 and I was trying to come up with a cool gift for my teenage son who (like me) is a comic book loving cartoonist. I'm amazed I had somehow never given him any old Milk & Cheese comics as he was growing up, but when I saw this collection I was glad I hadn't. He LOVED it. He and I have spent hours reading this collection and laughing our asses off.
So bravo, Evan Dorkin! Once again, the Pint of Hate and Wedge of Spite deliver their simple message of angst and violence to a new generation of readers, and inspire a kid to draw.

From the back cover: "They're not antisocial- THEY'RE ANTI-EVERYTHING!" I don't know if I could sum up Milk and Cheese any better than that! This hardcover collection of every MILK AND CHEESE strip up through 2010 contains mostly one to four page "stories(?)" where the Dairy Products Gone Bad take on everything from Jury Duty, to The War On Drugs, to Star Wars to Halloween to....you get the picture: they really do hate EVERYTHING! Dorkin is a great (although sick) sense of humor and is a really talented artist. Highly recommended!

To quote the book "They're not antisocial - They are anti-everything" sums the comic strip up quite well. If you remeber pop culture berween 1989 - 2011 you will appreciate the comics written and visual references/puns. Or if you ever visited NY or NJ some of the landmarks referenced should stand out too. Aside from that, the whole series is simply Milk & Cheese breaking things over people's heads, beating people up, throwing TV's and reeking utter havoc. The antics got old about 10 strips in. I had never heard of Milk & Cheese before - purchased the book on a whim as we needed something new and different. It was both.

Buy Milk and Cheese comics or else. Yer too lazy to turn pages anyway, so might as well embrace the hate in the 21st century. Milk and Cheese embody everything you love, and they hate everything you hate. Do yourself a favor and avoid a gin bottle glassing to the face. Milk and Cheese know where you live and what yer afraid of. Don't believe me? Tell it to the stick of dynamite crammed into my pie hole as I'm writing this.

For those who know Milk and Cheese, what more can I say that you don't already know?
For those of you who are not familiar with these two lovable scamps, what have you been doing with your lives!? Is your life so full of meaning that you don't have time for the teachings and philosophy of the greatest comedy duo since Cain and Abel? Is your self loathing so low, that you are afraid to bask in the awesomeness contained between the covers of this beautiful hardback edition collecting the entire works of the apostle Milk and the Prophet Cheese? Are you a descendant of Merv Griffin and still wondering what is was all about?
Well stop reading and order a dang copy already for the sake of your health, and by that, I mean, if you don't, M & C will find you, and they are not the kind of doctors you want making house calls!

I came late to this party, introduced to the light-hearted comedic romps of the Milk and the Cheese in the mid-nineties by some friends who emigrated to Athens from Jersey. But it's a non-stop party of cartoon ultra-violence and absolutely hilarious repartee between a wedge of spite and a carton of hate, and better late to that party than never. 'Cause who wouldn't want to witness the finest in pen-and-ink mayhem?
Pros: the protagonists are side-splittingly funny, profane, violent, drunken, misanthropic, mysoginistic, and will beat you dead with a bat just for being there. Gin, as they say, makes a man mean.
Cons: Reminds me of my misspent youth, years wasted on drunkenness, experiments with mind-altering chemicals and reading lurid comics.

Long time M&C fan. I have all the comics, as well as this book in hardcover. I bought the Kindle version to have them close to me at all times. It's a one joke comic, so it can get tedious if you read them all at once. It's better to spread the hate out over a few months.

I bought this recently as a gift for my best friend and his fiancee on their wedding. I fully expect that if this book doesn't cause them to bludgeon each other to death in a gin-fuelled honeymoon suicide pact then their relationship is truly one that will last forever.

Well-presented and comprehensive compilation of classic strip
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 17, 2012Verified Purchase
This compilation of pretty much every Milk And Cheese appearance up to the date of its publication is lovingly presented, with good quality reproductions in a pleasingly eye-catching orange hardback.
M&C itself is a one-joke strip, but a funny joke done very well with endless variation. Best to read in bite-size chunks. One story a day is recommended and will last you for a long time!
