Will these two totally separate people be able to reconcile their new lives? This book will take you through almost every scenario that could possibly happen. Their lives start to inter twine and then something wonderful happens--but you will have to read the book to find out what that is!! This is a definite feel good book with a couple of lessons we should all remember. Oh, you may need some tissues at parts but I also found myself cheering these two on with hope in my heart and a smile on my face!
Olivia and Rosie are such great characters! They rise above all the stuff life has dealt them. They’re such strong characters, and I adore them! Actually, all of the characters in this story are great. They are well-developed and very real. The way the story comes together and the characters intertwine is just so good! The relationships that are explored in Million Dollar Question are very real. The relationship between Rosie and her mom is strained, but I love the reconciliation in their story.
The settings in this story are very diverse and great. I want to move to Scotland now. Though I’m told there is a lot of rain :) The way the village in Scotland is described will make you want to pack your bags and go!
This story makes you believe that all things are possible. I highly recommend Million Dollar Question to all of you chick lit lovers! I give it 5 stars!
New Yorker Olivia Wheeler, goes from wealth and success to bankruptcy and shame. Struggling single-mother Rosie Dixon, wins an unexpected million pounds. While Olivia struggles to survive, she flees to London. Rosie discovers sudden wealth comes with a ton of problems. Two strangers who have never met, have no clue that each is affecting the other’s destiny.
A well written story of, love, loss, redemption, life altering decisions and secrets revealed. I liked Olivia, seeing a wealthy woman lose it all was devastating. Rosie, struggling to have a nice life for her children is a very likable woman. Watching her win a large sum of money and how her life suddenly changed was intense.
Also the twists, turns, drama and ultimately secrets made this a true five star read. Both women had self discoveries, and life changing situations. Each had to make tough choices and learn to live with their new lives. The plot is original, Olivia and Rosie are likable. I strongly recommend Million Dollar Question to all.
Keep them coming ladies...your fans count on you!!! 5 stars
The Million Dollar Question asks all these and a million more. This novel by Lorraine Campbell and Pam Burks, under the pseudonym Ellie Campbell, tells the story of two women on either side of the issue. In America, golden child, rich, Olivia Wheeler, hedge fund manager, has just had the shock of her life. Her supervisor has absconded with millions of their client’s money, leaving her and the rest of the company holding the bag. With her loss of funds she finds herself losing everything else in her life. Flat broke, no boyfriend, no job prospects, etc.; Olivia returns to her hometown of London. There she finds herself in a position completely foreign to her; poor, having to work menial jobs, living in a shoddy apartment, etc.
Meanwhile, divorced, mother of two, barely squeaking by, Londoner Rosie Dixon has just won a million pounds. She is surprised with the money, and soon discovers that it comes with a lot issues she had never thought of. She quickly finds everyone either kissing up and begging for money or resenting her riches and treating her cruelly. Rosie finds herself trying to balance her compassion with good sense.
The two’s stories interact when Olivia gets a job working on a documentary about money; having it, earning it, winning it, losing it, etc.; and how that changes their lives. She and her employer believe that Rosie will be perfect for the documentary the perfect compliment to Olivia’s story.Read more ›
