Devon and Skye

This book is part of the Love At First Kiss series and focuses on Devon and Skye. I'm not going to lie, I had a really hard time finishing this book. Devon was in a long term relationship with someone else until the last 20 pages of the book so I honestly couldn't take the book blurb seriously at all. What you read in the blurb is definitely not what you get in the story. So on top of Devon being in a relationship, Skye has also been crushing on his friend West. They accidentally hook up at a masquerade party when she thinks it's West. I hate leaving bad reviews but this was not up to par at all. The writing itself was good but for this story to even remotely work it had to be at least a few chapters longer. I mean the characters aren't even together and they randomly declare their love to each other when they've barely had interactions beyond work and most of that time he was in a relationship with someone else. Good writing in general, but it's a solid nope from me.

Skye is a hardworking young woman trying to make something of herself. Her parents are gone and she is working with her uncle who owns the Inn that she wants to run someday. But that is not to be. He was not good at business and he winds up selling to the guy in her classes that she kind of thinks she despises. Devon Gray was born with a silver spoon and he took that spoon and works to make it platinum. Though he doesn't want to sit in his father's shadow the advantages that he has had makes it easy for him to gain privileges that she cannot. When Devon and Skye run into one another they don't mix well and then he buys the inn and keeps her on. They also accidentally hook up at a party he throws. There are so many twists and turns in this one but at the root Skye and Devon don't really know one another until they start working together and they replace their assumptions with getting to know one another.

This novelette took me a little over an hour to read. Skye studies business and works at her uncle's bed and breakfast place. Devon is another student who is the epitome of successful. He has rich parents, a football career and personal wealth from business interests of his own. He does not get along with his father. Skye doesn't like Devon to begin with but they accidentally get to know each other intimately and later start working together. I liked some of the dialogue and the plot twist in the end, didn't see it coming. Contains some profanity. .

Million Dollar Smile is a fast read that will take you by surprise. Just when you think you know how the story is going, it throws you from loop and sends you in another direction.

Skye grew up with her Uncle and struggled to get where she can be on her own. Devon's life was of money and wealth, his struggles was to become his own man. Skye and Devon story is not an instalove, it is one of despised and hate the morphs into more as the walls fall and the truth is revealed.

Great story that is worth reading over and over.

I've read several books written by Becky Brandt; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

She has written another good short story. Devon is a rich kid in college that’s used to getting everything he wants; now he wants Skye but she can’t stand him which makes him want her even more.

It is really rare that I read a book were I have nothing positive to say about it afterwards but this is the case with this book. The arrogance of the characters is just one of the many off putting things about the story. I’m sorry but this is one of the worst romances I’ve ever read.

An enjoyable fast paced enemies-to-lovers page-turner! It is well written, engaging, and emotionally deep with drama, intrigue, ups and downs, and more. The characters are likeable; their chemistry is undeniable and off the charts! Definitely recommended!
