This book is about a millionaire, Phoenix, his body guard, Tarik and a woman named Mia. Between the three of them they will light up your kindle or set your paperback on fire, the story is that good!
Phoenix has been made president of his father's company after his father passes away, and he also now is the owner of an NHL Hockey team, so he is always working, however since he is so handsome he does not lack for female companionship, as a matter of fact he is tired of the whole dating scene. When his father died the man who was the liaison between the hockey team and his dad now becomes Phoenix's for lack of a better word, bodyguard, a job which he loves too much -he is attracted to Phoenix and one night they actually take it a step further and Phoenix is uncomfortable with what happened, he acts like he did not remember what happened but he remembered and he loved every minute of it. As far as Tarik is concerned he feels that he loves Phoenix, but keeps it to himself. Tarik also lives in the building in his own condo.
One day when Phoenix is getting back from a run, he walks into the lobby and sees Mia, and he is totally enthralled with her. He makes it Tarik's mission to find out who the woman is and which condo she is in, he wants to know everything about her.
Mia is a beautiful young woman who has been recently divorced, and so she is now going to college, starting at the age of 24, and she notices Phoenix a couple of times when they wind up going up or down the elevator, however she also notices Tarik as well!
This is the story about how they discover each other, how they get involved and what happens! This story is very touching, it has a lot of emotional angst and a lot of things happen which keeps the plot changing all the time.
Add to this the fact that Mia's ex-husband is trying to sue Phoenix as he claims Phoenix's father had a contract selling the hockey club to him, but yet could never produce proof. It causes angst for Mia, and you will have to read this and see what happens, but you will not be disappointed!
The one thing that stands out is the struggle between Tarik and Phoenix, as they are both dominant in nature, and so add Mia to the mix and it is interesting to see what happens. Will they be able to work out a relationship? What also stands out is Mia's confusion of having two men at the same time, as she finds she has feelings for both of them that run deep and she does not want to choose one over the other! Mia has been through so much with her ex-husband that married her when she was still too young really, and she has never been with anyone else!
Will Phoenix, Tarik and Mia be able to heal their hearts and glue back the "million tiny pieces" of their hearts from hurt and betrayal and come out on the other side?
I loved this book so much and would love to see more stand alone novels from Nicole Edwards, as she is a brilliant writer and is able to cause you to forget about everything around you and just want to sit and read until you finish the whole book! Nicole Edwards knows how to capture one's interest and provide a brilliant read, that will have you wanting more when the book is long finished-I know I have had a book hang over since last thursday!
I gave this book 5***** stars, and can't wait for more from this author!
Ms. Edwards can write a novel that makes you feel like you are in the story, and my oh my, I loved being in this one! One of the things I love about her is that she writes strong characters. There are no whiny boo hoo me type of characters here. They take charge and go after what they want. Mia, newly divorced, is taking back her life. She has a goal in mind for her life but she hits a couple of hiccups named Phoenix Pierce and Tarick Marxs. She is determined from the beginning that these two were not going to redirect her goals but she somehow cannot resist them. Mis is a caring, fun loving, open, dynamic heroine and throughout the novel she stays true to herself.
Phoenix Pierce...wow! He's a handsome, financially sound, hardworking, intense and slightly confused individual and he has his eyes set on Mia and Tarick. Tarick has always been there but until Mia, Phoenix wasn't willing to admit or give in to his sexual preferences.
Tarick Marx is just as good looking, hardworking, intense but with a softer side then Phoenix. He knows what he wants and come one way or another he's going to get it, and boy oh boy he does.
Ms. Edwards can so write a menage. The scenes are so hot and so appropriately done. They are never over the top and always have a tender side to them. I especially liked one of the later scenes where Tarick takes charge to prove to Mia that she's desired and the scene between Mia and Tarick, where it's just the two of them had me so emotional.
This is more then just a story about a menage. It's about three people who need each other for various reasons. The plot doesn't disappoint and flows so well that before you know it the story has come to an end. You will not be disappointed with this one. Who doesn't love a book with a great plot, strong wonderful characters and lots of hot sex. By the way, I have to say I loved the karma in this book. I did a little hooting and hollering when Damien got what was coming to him! Thank you Nicole Edwards for another great book!
