A longtime Milton fan here.... wow, i didn't think he had it in him to make an album like this one. the overblown production, the over-layered arrangements, are blessedly absent! While I thought "Pieta", his last album, was a return to form, this one tops it BY FAR.........

thankfully, a stripped down band!!! Wagner Tiso and his son Ismael on piano... Simplicity, purity, and heart radiate through this album. The guest vocalists shine throughout--one even recalls Lo Borges... The song choices seem to recall many of Milton's past successes without feeling like a self-homage. The quote from Eckhart, the Truffaut reference, the magical title track which he wrote in the 60s, but never recorded...it's as if Milton stepped out of a time machine from 1978 to record...

And, the voice. Weathered now, less powerful, but he seems to better zero in on the heartful, simple tones that make his voice shine. The album's closing note, with many overdubbed tones, recalls the end of "Day in the Life", a rich tapestry of vocalese that only Milton could create. Make no mistake, Bituca can still bring it. Too bad it took so long....but it really stands among his best!!!!!
