Becareful where you buy this tool , if you get the kit 2604-22 Find one that has the Extended Battery 4 AMP which will say XC 4.0 on the side of the battery , as that's the newest one , If you find one that just says XC without the 4.0 its the old one and those chucks also have problems with the ratchet tightening feature

Purchased drill last fall (2012). Awesome drill!!!! UNTILL today. I am putting down 1/4 cement backing board (floor), and have driven in about 500 1 1/4 screws. THEN... , while in the vertical position, the bit that fits into the screw head, fell out. Turns out that the chuck will open back up completly, but will now only close down to 1/4". Got to make a call I guess. Wish it was German!

UPDATE: Called Milwawkee tech support this morning. There is a small Allen Key screw that had backed out. I was told to remove the screw, (Clockwise), screw is reversed threaded.....and clean off any oil that may be on the threads with some alcohol. Then put a small drop of thread LOCKTIGHT onto the lower part of the screw. Then, put it back in and screw it in fast!! once the threads take hold. If you don't, the screw has the possibility of locking up on you, and then you will have an even bigger problem. Anyway, I followed the instructions from the rep, and it did the trick. They have excellent phone support.

This is by far the best drill/driver I've ever owned.. corded or cordless. You get the drill and two high-end batteries for basically the cost of the batteries alone. I used it constantly all day long screwing down metal roofing and still had 1/3 battery left. On the way back to the shop I used it to change a flat tire. Checked the lug nuts torque when I got back, they were 85 ft. lbs. I'm sold!

I've owned a Milwaukee 2601 (drill only), kit for about 3 years. It has been a great drill never failing to do the job. These (unfortunately), are not the old days of $60 corded tools and buying a unit these days requires investing some time doing research...especially when batteries cost what a complete drill used to cost!

I admittedly did work my way up thru a few other brands (Porter-C and Dewalt), before buying my 2601. I have been so impressed with the Milwaukee, i just had to have this 2604 hammer drill to go along with it.

This 2604 really did not fail to impress me. High torque, good battery life and quick charge...everything I expected from a tool of this quality. The tool feels well balanced. There have been no disappointments with this unit. I do not live in a cold climate so the only thing I can not commment on is battery performance in cold weather. There is no point buying just a drill these days when a hammer drill cost about the same and is far more useful. Definitely 5 Stars for this baby.

When I looked at this the first time it was perfect for me, here are the reasons why: I couldn't believe the huge amount of torque this thing the most I've seen in a drill which is great if you have to hole saw or step drill all of the time. The second thing I liked about this is the balance of it, it's not top heavy, front heavy when you have it in your hands it feels centered perfectly. Another thing I like about this drill is that it has a very short length to it, so you can get into tight places easier with this drill. The light is way brighter than my Makita is and I was always envious about Milwaukee having a power gauge on their batteries. I was a full on Makita fan but now I'm making a switch to Milwaukee, this was the first thing I'm getting next I'm getting a Hackzall which I've used and has way better ergonomics than a regular sawzall. I've been wanting to switch for a while but when I saw the FUEL that was when I took the leap and I'm happy that I did.

Update: really hold on to the drill when you are using a hole saw. this thing has so much torque it will not stop on the low speed. just be ready to let off the trigger if it catches on something.

There's a reason this drill comes with a right-angle handle. It has enough torque that you want to treat it with the same respect you would give a heavy-duty 1/2" AC-powered drill. I knocked my fingers good and hard trying to drill an 8" block of wood I was holding in one hand. The bit stuck and the torque whipped the piece around right quick.

Hammer-drill and adjustable-torque clutch for screws work well, easy to adjust / configure. Tool-less chuck adjusts quickly, has a nice smooth ratcheting sound / feel as you get down to "tight enough" so you know the bit is locked in.

Only small nitpick is that when you use very fine bits (i.e. 1/16" or smaller,) they can tend to slip free of the chuck. My older Makita 1/2" drill/driver never did this, but I'm not taking points off because that's really not what the tool was designed for.

Bought this for 356 dallors.
Replaced my m18 hammer drill.
the torque is amazing on this screws lags anything i can sink it in speed 2 without the clutch kicking in.
the hammer drill mode keeps up with 35 pound sds rotary hammer.
Built like a tank.
I get about 75 percent more run time then i did with the old one.
about double the power.
it dosent get hot.
with my old m18 if it was below 0 out i wuldnt have any power.
i was running grk 8 inch timber screws a month ago when it was 12 below no problem speed 2.
