Good power with the MK18 volt batteries and the lithium-ion lasts forever on a charge.
I used a high-quality self-feed bit and powered thru 2x10 ceiling joists in a few seconds.
Milwaukee improved the LED light design so that it stays on for a few seconds after you let go of the trigger. The early MK18 tools had their light go out immediately upon release of the trigger (annoying!).
The chuck design can pinch your skin when you tighten/loosen bits (between the chuck and the housing by the light).
Trigger is very sensitive though you can lock it out by locating the forward/reverse button halfway.
Overall, the cons are very minor - good tool - Milwaukee rarely makes a bad product (even though they are located in Packer-land!).
The LED is bright and illuminates the workspace well. When maximum torque is achieved the LED changes to red when the drill stops. Nice feature.
The advantage of the bare tool is that you don't have to buy additional batteries and chargers. It does not come in a plastic box - which would have been a nice addition. It uses the new M-18 batteries.
Great drill. Recommended.
It has a great smooth chuck that locks more positively than any of my Dewalt Drills cordless or corded and is par with my high end milwaukee corded drills. The chuck and chuck design are the biggest plus after the Right hand drill and led. Smooth and powerful.
The drill has variable torque and speed control which makes it suitable for not only sinking fine screws but driving large wood screws into tight corners or rafter work. I used this tool in building a shed and for shelf and cabinet work for both drilling and driving and for rafter and corner work, drilling and driving when I could not get in with my drivers or drills easily . Without this tool I would not have done a professional job especially on the shelves and cabinets.
I have large hands and this tool was difficult to get used to for one hand operation. I think for women with small hands you will not like this tool or it will take some getting used to operating with two hands. That said the 'heft' of the tool when combined with the M18 batter makes it suitable for non impact driving situations.
For professionals this is a brush design so under superheavy use you might only get 1-5 years before you have to replace the brushes.Read more ›
Its a worthwhile investment.
Worst thing is that I can't return it because I do not live in USA. So disappointing. I thought that Milwaukee is good brand...
I was wrong...
