Dean Rathje sings and plays banjo, mandolin, piano, slide guitar, and bass.

"Milwaukee Blues" comes from Charlie Poole (1892-1931), an American old-time banjo player and leader of the North Carolina Ramblers. "Roll 'em Pete" is an R&B song first recorded in 1938 by Big Joe Turner and pianist Pete Johnson. It's regarded as one of the earliest rock and roll songs. "Please Baby," "Crazy 'bout Her Lovin'," and "She Ain't No Good" originate with the Mississippi Sheiks, a guitar and fiddle group of the 1930s. "Old Howard" is an early blues tune recorded by Leadbelly, Cisco Huston, and others. "Hey Rattler" may also come from Leadbelly. "Handsome Molly" is a traditional song of distant origin. "She's Your Cook (But She Burns My Bread Sometimes)" comes from Bo Carter (Armenter Chatmon, 1892-1964), an early blues musician and sometimes member of the Mississippi Sheiks.
