Editorial Reviews

Review

"The complicated history of environmental injustice depicted makes this worthy reading."

Publishers Weekly

“An important read that can easily be incorporated in the classroom. Wilson shows the resilience of the human spirit, and through Tomi declaring a call to action while giving his report to prevent this from happening again, I sense the passion of Wilson and Shimojima in this book.”

Near Mint Condition

“Super educational. A solid start to introduce this incident to those who don’t know about it.”

REVIEWS OF AUTHOR'S PREVIOUS WORKS

The Satsuma Rebellion: Illustrated Japanese History - The Last Stand of the Samurai 9781623171674

"Sean Michael Wilson has authored a unique line of manga-style books on Japanese themes. This latest edition, The Satsuma Rebellion, with artist Akiko Shimojima, portrays the real last stand of the samurai and the central figure—Saigo Takamori, the subject of NHK television's year-long historical drama in 2018—with style and accuracy."--Davide Calzetti, Japanese historical researcher

Bushido (Graphic Novel): The Soul of the Samurai 9781611802108

"Absolutely the best explanation of bushido in the English language.:--Nicklaus Suino, author of The Art of Japanese Swordsmanship

Tao Te Ching: A Graphic Novel Paperback 9781611803280

"Engaging, well researched, and very relatable. ... Altogether, the creative team has made this essential text even more compelling not only for those interested in theology but also philosophy."--Graphic Policy

5.0 out of 5 stars Emotional and Intelligent
By Walker23 on July 1, 2021
This is a good mix of an intelligent look at an important environmental disaster with very emotional scenes of how it affected the animals and people of this fishing village, Minamata. I learned a lot from it! Something lovely art in it too, from the Japanese artist.
