Ron White is a 2 time USA Memory Champion. He held the record for the fastest to memorize a deck of cards in the USA for 2 years at 1 minute 27 seconds. He held the record for most numbers memorized in the USA at 167 digits in 5 minutes.

He has appeared on National Geographic Channel's Brain Games, Stan Lee's Superhumans, Discover Channel, Fox News, Good Morning America and dozens more tv programs. He is a veteran of the US Navy and served in Afghanistan in 2007. His greatest memory project is memorizing the 2,300+ fallen us military service members from the war in Afghanistan. Thinking Like Sherlock from Someone Who Can

The book is short but this is because Ron White chucks the padding, leaving a concise, just-us-two-friends-talking style. White guides the reader through a logical progression of our fascination with Sherlock Holmes and specifically his Mind Palace, fascinating trivia of both Holmes and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and fun exercises to develop memory, focus, and awareness.

What I think sets this book apart from other Holmes How-Tos is that White actually possesses a Sherlockian memory ability. As a two-time USA Memory Champion, he is an expert in mnemonics.

By the end of this book, you will be able to create a Holmes-style mind palace--multiple palaces, in fact.

Boring and uninspiring

Uninspiring, partly even boring read (e.g. a detailed biography of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle). Many typos, even grammar errors, missing eloquence. Many reiterations, one of Holmes' sayings is repeated at least three times. A link to an empty webpage to buy a course is given after each chapter and also in between, giving the impression the book is holding back information that will be sold there.
I recommend to buy the Joshua Foer book instead.
