From Publishers Weekly
Meditation with a quantum twist is what RavenWolf offers in her 19th book about witchcraft and magick. "Meditation is nothing more than the moment you make magick," she explains, and it is precisely the means for harnessing what she calls MindLight, an internal source of power that is "a tool that you can use to build a healthy, positive future." Two-thirds of the book consists of meditation exercises grouped into three categories: basic, life pace and astrology-related. RavenWolf's tone throughout is so filled with pep that readers will either be swept up into trying the many meditation exercises or run screaming from prose that's enthusiastic (!) to the point of intolerable. Beyond the chatty encouragement, RavenWolf provides an impressive selection of exercises specific to common places encountered daily (the shower, the car), times of day (in the morning or while watching the sunset) or the various planets. All of these drills are designed to improve health, self-esteem and a practitioner's overall outlook and approach to life. If readers can forgive the RavenWolf's syrupy tone, MindLight is, at the least, a thorough handbook of meditation techniques especially helpful in the area of slowing the ever-quickening pace of living in today's world. She should take a break, quality not quantity should be her main goal. I understand this is not a goldmine market. Yet to be a good teacher is more important. All witches are important, none are the same! That is the whole point of the western tradition. Quantum physics are a springboard for all magic.
I was meditating last night on how I really do define and/or identify with the Goddess and God, and questions of that nature. When I meditated on what "God" (and not necessarily in the masculine) is, I saw the infinity symbol.
Fast forward to this morning when I went for a walk. I was suddenly overcome with the desire to read a book that has been sitting on my bookshelf forever unread: MindLight. MindLight never really grabbed me prior to today. It was a gift and I politely tucked it into my book collection and never read it. Today I "knew" it was time and that I'd find something.
And what do you know? Silver talks about divinity as infinity at one point. The whole concept of how we create our own reality resonates strongly with what I've been meditating about for the last several months. I had no idea that material was in MindLight, which has been collecting dust for years!
I'm so excited. I'm "over the moon" about it and look forward to doing all the meditations. I can't say enough.
Many criticize Silver for being "fluffy". I don't find MindLight to be fluffy at all.
I'm looking back at "To Ride A Silver Broomstick" and I see all the progress both she and I have made in our Craft knowledge and experience. I have her to thank for introducing me to many new concepts along the way, and I have about half of her books. One of her circle castings from her little spell book on love is one I use still to this day for all circle castings, love-related or not.
I'm mentioning those things to illustrate the point that even if you have disregarded Silver's books because maybe they used to be fluffy in the past, you should look past your preconceived assumptions about MindLight. If you really apply it you'll have fantastic results.
I don't agree with everything this book says, but I absolutely love the different meditations. I love meditation and being able to use my mind, therefore, this book is perfect for me.
