From the Author

This was the book I have been waiting my whole professional career to write. When I started out in the training & consulting business it was all about mindfulness and stress. It soon became evident that just teaching mindfulness in the context of stress management was very limiting. Mindfulness can and should be (at times) a demanding practice that stretches us into new ways of being, new psychological territory, which is why teaching it in a context of leadership is so much more appropriate. The other fantastic thing about writing this book was tying a whole leadership practice into a whole mindfulness practice. Like many long time mindfulness practitioners I have been distressed to see the rise of mindfulness training without ethical guidelines. It might sound conservative or even old fashioned to say that, but when one goes more deeply into a mature, whole mindfulness practice, ethics become treasured and an essential part of the practice. My deepest hope for this book is that it provides a true bridge between the deepest and most profound parts of mindfulness practice and the demanding world of leadership.
