"Intelligent and accessible, Mindfulness Meditations for ADHD is a must-read for anyone who wants to tame a wandering, distracted mind. Tailored for ADHD learning styles, the book brilliantly strips away the myth and mystery surrounding meditation and offers a rich menu of powerful practices that will help even the most distracted among us release their potential and thrive." ―Rebecca M. Johnson, psychotherapist
"A gentle, sensible and even humorous invitation to mindfulness meditation, Merriam Saunders' book provides a clear and useful road map accessible to all readers. Written specifically for those living with ADHD, Saunders shares her expertise, with loving kindness in a manner that also connects to the 'monkey minds' in everyone. Filled with practices and exercises, Mindfulness Meditations for ADHD is an important resource that belongs in every home and classroom." ―Michael Genhart, PhD, clinical psychologist and author
"Perfect for the reader with ADHD whose mind cannot sit still! This delightful book on mindfulness meditation 1) visually orients the reader to new chapters via watercolor-esque transition pages, making it easy to find one's place, 2) chunks down into bite-sized, ADHD-friendly pieces the reasons to invest in meditation, and, 3) provides a full menu of approaches, positions, and environments for meditation that will keep the easily bored ADHD brain happily coming back for more." ―Holly Seerley, MFT, therapist, ADHD expert & speaker

- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2022I work with students with ADHD and this is one of my favorite resources. The meditations are easy to use, well organized and it is overall a fabulous resource for parents, students, and educators. I recommend it to all of colleagues.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2022The first three chapter of this book answered questions I have had about meditation forever. For years, I have been frustrated each time I tried to meditate. My mind went into “monkey chatter,” as the author aptly calls it. This book let me know that my challenges are normal. It also made meditation less overwhelming by including exercises that are bite-sized ways to calm the brain and stay grounded in the present. For me, the mindfulness meditation was especially helpful as lately I have woken, poured coffee, and dived into work and all its distraction instead of taking a moment to be here, now, with myself. Many of these meditations are ways to connect to life, generally. I especially liked the one geared toward active listening and paying attention to the clues that others give as they talk. I have tried it a few times before important conversations and it’s made an incredible difference in how I understand the conversation and react. This book may have ADHD in the title but it could easily apply to anyone, anywhere trying to focus on a calm joy in a chaotic world.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2022I received an advance copy of Mindfulness Meditations for ADHD from the publisher and found it to be an excellent primer for anyone wishing to harness the remarkable power of meditation for training (retraining) one’s brain with focus and purpose. Saunders, a practicing psychologist specializing in ADHD, breaks down just what meditation and mindfulness are, and how effective they can be in controlling stress and anxiety, distraction, negative thoughts, and in regulating emotion, and enhancing productivity. While it’s especially accessible for those who deal with ADHD, it’s an exceptional resource for anyone who wants to make meditation a bigger part of their lives. The format --short, easy to read, 5- to 20-minute practice exercises include wisdom from many traditions and disciplines (Taoist, Yoga, Katsugen Undo, and 12-step programs, to name but a few) and is clear, easy-to-practice, supportive, and enlightening.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2022I received an ARC to read from the publisher. While my brother is a firm believer in (and teaches) self healing through meditation, positivity, and acupuncture, and has achieved positive results on his own health through these practices, I have not made the time to explore these methods with the exception of positivity. I'm a firm believer in the power of positivity. Saunders seems to share my experience with meditation in particular until her father beat cancer through meditation. Friends have also shared similar experiences over the years. So the topic caught my attention. Besides how Saunders came to meditation, what I like most about the book are the numerous tools Saunders describes. It gives readers the option to explore and find what works best for them. It's well organized and easy to read. Good luck on your journey to meditation!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2022Both my husband and son have ADHD. Not to make it all about me, but it's hard sometimes living with two ADHD family members and trying to understand how and why they do certain things. It can be frustrating and exhausting. I read Mindfulness Meditations for ADHD in hopes to share some helpful meditations with my family to improve their focus and help with stress, but what I discovered, was that most of the exercises worked for me as well. I think most of us see meditation as something only the enlightened can master, but this book simplifies and gives such detailed instruction around the practice, it's helpful for everyone. It's a book I'll keep on my nightstand always.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2022You can tell by how this book is written, that Merriam Saunders brings extensive knowledge, experience, and insight into how the ADHD brain works, and what is needed to find equilibrium and balance in one's day. I have now referred this book to 4 clients whom all have reported that the meditations are short, easy to understand, execute and provide focus when they feel overwhelmed by too much input. ADHD doesn't just require lists, reminders, and external strategies to quieten the mind. It needs the intersection of compassion, empathy, and understanding that Saunders incorporates brilliantly as a Psychotherapist.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2022I was lucky enough to get an early copy of the printed book from the publisher. It is a visually beautiful book. I have been using it with clients with ADHD who have found it very useful because the exercsies are short and easy to stay present with. It is also relieving for them as Merrimm does a wonderful job explaining the benefits and also common obstancles to meditation for people who have ADHD. Great resource!!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2022I really enjoyed reading Mindfulness Meditations for ADHD. For someone with a “busy” mind, like myself, this book was an incredibly helpful tool. I had always wondered about meditation but personally, had little to no success. This book showed me that meditation is and can be possible for someone like myself if the proper steps are taken. I strongly recommend this book as a resource to reflect on the importance of meditating, especially if you have experienced ADHD.
