Missing an entire cd/songs/tracks...

This 2008 Mindrocker box set was put out by Past & Present. There were only 1000 made (all individually numbered). I have ordered 3 of them & on every single one of them all of the tracks that are on Vol. 6 are the exact same ones as on Vol. 7! So they duplicated all of the same songs/tracks twice & mis-marked the CD. One of the main reasons I want this compilation was for track no. 12 on Vol. 7 - Dick Wagner & The Frost - Sunshine (but there is no disc 7) - just two of disc 6! Also all of these CDs are coded/blocked so you cannot play them in your computer, or download them to your iPod... Yikes!
The music/songs & sound quality are amazing, but missing 14 tracks/an entire CD doesn't really make it a complete CD Box set does it?

Like the previous review, my Mindrocker collection has a duplicated volume 6 that is labeled volume 7. Volume 7 was the only reason why I purchased this set as it has a song "Out of My Mind" by the Surprise Package that is impossible to find anywhere else. I am disappointed to say the least with the lack of quality control that evidently went into to this product. Don't bother to purchase if you are looking for the complete set of 13 cd's. Bummer . . .

Wow After I read some reviews about missing or duplicate discs , I got a little worried.So I started really listen to all of the CD's. Boy was I lucky I guess ;every disc is great quality and no duplicate or sound issues present. My heart goes out to the people who got bad sets, I hope they get replacements without having to spend the same amount twice. If you are one of the unlucky ones who got improper discs please send me an e-mail and I will send what ever disc you need (a copy of mine)I'm not looking to make any money , I will do this non-gratis. People who purchase these sets deserve no less.The small in #'s of us who love garage music who get an correct set will be very pleased with this set. I LOVE garage music of
of the 60's and the many gems in this collection made it well worth the price. Non important info follows- I was in a garage band , way back in the day. I also have the privilege of knowing one of the members of the Chesterfield Kings for over 20 years and have never met a nicer person.

Quality control needed.

The diversity and breadth of tracks on this set is impressive, but the execution kills it...I ordered this box set a few months ago, and the cds were a mess: scratches and weird marks on the data side of nearly every disc, and annoying debris in each cd sleeve. Tracks 7 and 8 on Vol. 5 (The Music Explosion's "Road Runner" and We The People's "In The Past") had major skipping issues that started on one track and continued onto the next. Track 2 on Vol. 11 (The Outcasts' "I Didn't Have to Love Her Anymore") had the same skipping problem. I ended up finding the tracks online, and none of the skipping issues were apparent, so I forked over another $80 to buy a replacement box set. While the condition of the discs was somewhat better in the second set, it had the same skipping issues...totally unacceptable. Even worse, a number of songs sounded poorly mastered and contain lots of high end-end distortion and a general lack of clarity and depth (compared to vinyl-ripped versions posted on YouTube.com). I'm never buying anything off the Past & Present label ever again.

What duplicate disc??

I've had this set for quite a while, almost a year now, and when I looked at the two previous reviews on here, it got me nervous, since I don't think I ever listened to the whole thing in one sitting, or even in 2 or 3. Therefore, I don't remember what I listened to or didn't listen to on here, even though I love all of it, especially the huge informative booklet. Well, I checked both Disc 6 and Disc 7, and thankfully, both are completely different, and contain the songs that both are supposed to. So, there is no duplication here. I guess if I had experienced what the other 2 owners did, I would be pretty peeved, too. I wonder if either or both of them had tried returning the box for a new one, or writing to the company for replacement. I'm just saying that my set proves that all 1000 sets are not "defective", and some do have 13 different discs.

First off, I'd like to reiterate what the most recent MINDROCKER reviewer confirmed: each of my (13) discs in this wonderful set was unique. I purchased this item new from Bomp for roughly $90 and I consider that price an absolute steal as compared to trying to collect each of these rarities individually. For any 60's garage/psych fan this set is a must!

I have also shelled out a decent amount of money for this box set, only to discover disc 6 is repeated on disc 7. The track I mainly wanted is on disc 7, so I am not happy to say the leas. What a shame that this has spoilt a really good compilation. I REALLY HOPE THAT PAST & PRESENT CAN RE-ISSUE DISC 7 to all of us who have missed out

Mindrocker est une compilation de nuggets psychédéliques américains des années 65-68 c'est-à-dire de groupes souvent semi inconnus qui ont enregistré pour des maisons de disques mineures.
La compilation Mindrocker, une des premières de ce genre, a été faite en Allemagne dans les années 80 et se base sur la re-masterisation de disques vinyles de l'époque. Dans l'ensemble le son est plutôt correct. Le genre varie du psychédélique punk au folk/rock, du pop au rock tout court et au proto-punk.
La panoplie sur les treize disques est immense le seul défaut c'est qu'étant sortis à l'origine en vinyles individuels, sans un plan préconstitué, le même groupe est souvent présent sur différents Cds, toutefois le livret d 100 pages et une index permettent de s'y retrouver facilement.

Sur un plan musical le produit est très proche du coffret Rhino Original Artyfact of the First Psychedelic Era, bien que ce ne soient que très rarement les mêmes groupes, toutefois Rhino en suite a prévu une sorte d'ordre dans ses pubblications par exemple les deux superbes coffrets dédiés exclusivement à La Californie du Nord (San Francisco) « Love is the song we sing » et du Sud (Los Angeles) « Where the action is » avec par ailleurs des magnifiques livrets, tandis qu' ici l'ordre est laissé un peu au hasard ce qui ne n'est pas pour déplaire - on est ainsi à l'affut de la découverte inattendue à chaque plage mais on a du mal à avoir une vision «géographique» des genres caractéristiques, par exemple de Boston ou du Texas.
D'autre part c'est vrai que si par la suite on veut plonger dans des colléctions plus spécialistes il faudra voir le Cds « Pebbles » par exemple ou « Nuggets from the golden State » chez Ace Records.

Tout dépend de votre passion pour ce genre de musique, si vous n'avez qu'une curiosité musicale, les coffrets de Rhino sont suffisants si par contre vous êtes à l'affut de novelles découvertes alors ce coffret est fait pour vous.

Un dernier conseil pour terminer : surtout n'écoutez pas ça tout d'un coup mais siroter-le en savourant chaque plage, les yeux fermés...et le trip peut commencer!
