Appears to be a great lock for the following reasons. 1. Anti-shim key cannot be removed when lock is open so cannot be "popped" within seconds using a thin piece of metal. 2. The small size lock has a shackle is same thickness as master combination lock so it has fit every locker I have encountered. 3 Key is unique so criminals are unlikely to have a master key. 4. I could not locate a video on how to pick the lock within seconds like with many disk locks. 5. The lock appears to be more secure than most and may be enough of a pain to break into so that criminals would choose another lock to break into as it may take longer to defeat this lock. However like any lock it can be defeated or in a gym the actual locker around the lock can frequently be pryed open but this usually takes more time and may be noisy or more noticeable to others in the locker room. I bought lock at regular price and have no connection with mfg or vendor.

I can't say how amazed I am about the locking mechanism on this lock. You have to have the key inserted in order to close or open the loop (to insure you have the key).

The fact that the key is round makes it so that the key cannot be duplicated by the likes of any normal keyshop. It fits easily into the locks at the gym too.

The only negative thing is that it says Mindy on it. I get that it's the brand name, I just wish it didn't say anything at all. Still 5/5 stars from me!

This lock feels heavy and sturdy, and according to youtube videos by lockpicking gurus it's got some attributes that make it more secure than other locks at about the same price (if you're serious about security it's worth spending a few minutes watching 1-2 of those videos). I took off a star because I just discovered that the way I had been leaving it on my gym locker was actually completely unlocked when it seemed to me to be locked. This was due to the way it looks locked when the cover of the lock loop is in place, and because it seemed that the key would only come out of the padlock when the lock was engaged (which I finally realized was not the case). You have to push the body of the lock fully up into the looped part before removing the key for the lock to actually be engaged. This is no doubt obvious to many people, but I'm not an especially dumb person and guess that many other buyers could make the same mistake. Mindy does get kudos for providing a couple spare keys.
UPDATE: been using lock for well over 1.5 years now, haven't had any problems. Only other thing to mention is that the lock just looks sturdier than most of the other cheapie/combo locks on the gym lockers, and that's half the battle (i.e., thief will likely go after weaker locks first)

Love this thing, it’s a tank and looks very intimidating. I got it for a gym locker, I go to LA Fitness for those who care.

My locker was broken into one time, and I lost quite of bit of cash, and they stole my debit/credit cards. Hit me upwards of $2k in total.

So a lock that I find pretty inexpensive is worth every cent, I would definitely look for towards Mindy for any future locking needs.

I would highly recommend to anyone to pick it up. The quality would make it seem to be great for outdoor use too.

More secure lock for gym

After having my combo lock cracked and my stuff stolen from my gym I switched to the Mindy lock. I just pin the key to my outfit during my workout. So far so good. The key is a different design and has to be in the lock to lock or unlock it. I know my gym has also had problems with locks being cut off and the shafts on the Mindy help prevent that-especially if you turn it backward on the lock so that more of the shaft is facing out (opposite side of the picture). I hope to not get ripped off again but I think this lock will help and it's not much more than traditional combo or key locks.

I purchased this for my gym locker and was looking for something that would give would be thieves a hard time since thefts from lockers are frequent in my area. This fits my locker perfectly. The key action is smooth and feels sturdy. I searched on lockpicking forums and it seems that an average, petty, opportunistic thief who learns lockpicking from YouTube won't be ready to pick this.
