A fabulous book from start to finish. One of these days I’ll remember not to start a new Marie book at bedtime because they’re impossible to put down and leave you with a book-hangover that’s totally worth it the next day! Thank you for another great story Marie! I can’t wait for Finn’s story!
Riley and Nikki are such a great couple. I have to say, you could feel their chemistry clicking right from the very beginning. And with every day that passed, it just got so much stronger. At times they made me cry, and others I was jumping for joy. Nikki sacrificed so much for her sister, so it was time for her to let go and find her own happiness, and boy did she ever!!!
I had so much fun reading about all of the wild antic's of the McCarthy family. The snow plow meeting had me rolling with laughter. And as one other reviewer stated: "And of course, there’s the usual hilarity that Mac provides, a Gansett story wouldn’t be complete without it!" I say Amen to that! I loved the Adam & Abby surprise. I cried with such happiness for the two of them. They haven't had much of that lately, so it was high time.
And of course my heart went out to Shane, mainly because I can relate to his dilemma. Mine wasn't so much with a past love, but with 2 of my drug addicted brothers, who took their lives when they felt their lives spinning out of control. I, too; felt guilty about not doing enough to stop it, especially the second time. I tried, believe me, but it just wasn't enough. It took me a long time and lots of therapy, for me to finally realize that you can't do anything to help someone, if that person's not willing to help themselves.
But one of my favorite things, was getting to catch up again with Mac & Maddie. They are still, by far, my all time favorite fictional couple of any book I've read, and there are thousands. They started out on really shaky grounds, at first. But since then....their love and devotion for each other and their family, has stood the test of time. It doesn't matter what kind of crisis life throws their way, they get through it together. And they've had more than their share, too. But it's the laughter that they always seem to provide, that I love the most.
I really hope this series doesn't end anytime soon, because that would be a major tragedy for me. I may not have read all of Marie Force's books, but this makes #41 for me, and yet this series is still my favorite. C'mon Marie, bring on #20!!!
