Looking at TellTale games website regarding this problem, no fix has been made that corrects the issue. It happened with Episode 2 as well, back in October. It has been suggested that you put your game saves on a USB then delete all updates and saves then reinstall, reupdate, then reinstall game save, etc. That is NOT a fix. It's a headache. TellTale/Microsoft need to work a little harder to fix this issue ASAP.
Since you can't get what you paid for, I wouldn't recommend buying this game or just buy the game without the season pass and be prepared to purchase the additional episodes. So far, it's been a complete rip off and my child can't even play the game because he's completed the other episodes.
But as to the caveat alluded to in the header, only episode one is on this disk, and purchasing it only entitles you to download the remaining episodes 2-5. It is in the description here on Amazon, and in small print on the back of the case, but could easily be overlooked in both places. So you'll have to have the means to download the remaining episodes--so be sure you can get online...which brings me to my next warning: Apparently episodes 2-5 aren't even yet available, which means that once your gamer is done with episode one, there's nothing to go on to. This was, understandably, a big disappointment to my son. It should not not be an issue in the however distant future, but for now is a huge downer.
Unless your gamer is a die hard Minecraft fan and absolutely has to have this right now, I would give serious consideration to waiting until all five episodes are available. Unfortunately, I don't have any idea as to the timeline for the roll out of the remaining episodes, so at this point it is an exercise in patience. Of course, my son just reminded me, you can always replay episode 1 and make different decisions.
After reading some of the Q & A's I found that after the first episode you have to be hooked into the internet AND have an Xbox Live account. Once logged in you can then download the other episodes. Wish I would've know that before purchasing!
