The tabs that stick up from the keyboard to grip the tablet are situated in such a way that it "grips" the device on two sides. That leaves the two shorter sides un gripped and, therefor, the device can slide a bit in either direction.
Speaking of the tabs, the one that is in the middle of the bottom of the keyboard is situated right in front of the space bar. You cannot remove the tab, so you have a piece of plastic sticking up 1/2 inch right in front of the space bar. This will cause you to run into it quite often. Do not plan to use this for any long term typing unless you decide to use this purely as a keyboard and NOT a case - then you can probably cut that tab completely off (which is what I am thinking of doing).
So far, this has been the best of two options I have tried so far. You will not really be protecting the tablet much with this. It's designed to be easy to tote around a keyboard, not protect your tablet. For that, it does an ok job. I find much better options for my iPad, but because I also use Android devices, I need cases to fit.
However, how this devise integrates with the Note 10.1 physically leaves much to be desired. As mentioned in other reviews, there is only a slot/groove near the top of the keyboard to rest the Note 10.1 in. Behind it is a kind of retractable "kickstand" to keep the Note 10.1 from just falling over backwards. That's it. There is absolutely nothing that actually secures the Note 10.1 and the keyboard together while in use.
As a "case," it is slightly better. there are clips at the top and bottom to hold the keyboard on the Note 10.1 as a sort of "lid." While secure enough to hold them together, this is in no way true "protection." The back and sides of the Note 10.1 are completely exposed. It does have an aluminum back (covering the Note 10.1's screen when in "lode" mode), which gives the Note 10.1 a "premium feel" that many detractors of the Note 10.1 say it lacks. lol. It's also very thin and light, adding little bulk to the Note 10.1.
I am keeping this, only because, as another reviewer said, the keyboard selection for the Note 10.1 is poor. I also bought from Amazon a "leather" case in which the Note 10.1 securely fits:Worldshopping Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard PU Leather Stand Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 N8010 N8013 Tablet with Free Accessory- Black
However, that is a horrible keyboard to type on and the case roughly triples the bulk of the Note 10.1.
I optimistically await Samsung to step up and readily offer its OEM case (which I've heard mixed reviews about and is expensive) in U.S. outlets, or for third parties to produce keyboard cases that are ergonomic, stylish and protective.
The body is very light weight and flexible and doesn't provide the overall protection I was anticipating, although it does snap on nice.
In addition, there were scratches on the new device I received so I suspect I may have received a refurbished unit.
