I am a huge fan of Monty Python. The "Ministry of Silly Walks" sketch, by no means their greatest work, has nonetheless always been one of my favorites. I saw this watch and absolutely loved the idea of it, with John Cleese's legs as the hour and minute hands, and his rolled-up umbrella ticking off the seconds. I read the reviews for the watch and decided to purchase it, as it was on sale and I was not likely to find it elsewhere at such a price. The case is large (approximately 3.7 cm in diameter) and the adjustment knob sticks out approximately 4-5 mm. The watch face itself is nicely made, with stylized numbers, raised markers, and some raised decoration (not colored, but a nice stylish detail if you look closely) around the day/date window. The adjustment knob also features a decorative touch. The dial glass is flat rather than domed, which gives away the fact that the watch is not of high quality. The case feels rather cheap, and the general low quality of the watch is apparent when you pull out the adjustment knob to set the correct time (the watch movement seems to rattle around a bit inside the case). The watch band bears a stamp claiming that it is made of genuine leather. The band is horribly, uncomfortably stiff. I had to spend several minutes bending and working the band back and forth before I could even fasten it around my wrist. I am a female with average sized wrists (I comfortably wear 7 1/2" bracelets), and I believe that a man with average wrists would be hard pressed to get this watch on without poking extra holes in the band. It seems a bit short for a man to be able to wear it, despite the fact that the band is 20 mm wide and it looks like a man's watch. So far, the watch seems to keep accurate time, and I was able to get the date set correctly.Read more ›

This watch is low quality. The band is garbage, and will be too small for many men's wrists. It is substantially overpriced. Had I handled it prior to purchase, I wouldn't have paid more than perhaps $25 or $30. Nevertheless, I intend to keep it because it IS amusing, and returning it would probably be more trouble than just accepting yet another lesson in the value of knowing what you're getting before you fork over your money.

It's funny and clever, but I cannot recommend it.

I've had this watch for just under two months and I love it. The "hands" of the watch i.e. the legs, often are in hilarious positions. The watch band was stiff when I got it, but since then it's beginning to become less stiff. My only complaint with this watch is that every now and then the day of the week will be wrong (or in the wrong language) or the date will be wrong i.e the 15th instead of the 14th which can get annoying having to go all the way around the watch to get it back to the correct time or day. But other than that, the watch is great. I am a huge Python fan, and even if you just like Monty Python, I would recommend getting this watch, even if it's just for a collection.

The concept for this watch is fantastic; but if it weren't for my love of Monty Python I would return it. It is cheaply made and if I want to wear it at all I'll have to replace the wrist band. The winding mechanism is already messing up and the relatively large knob digs into your wrist if you wear it on your left hand. It seems like a minor issue but when I buy a watch I expect it to be comfortable and well-made. This is a neat novelty but a crappy watch.

I first saw this watch sported by one of my classmates. Being a huge fan of Monty Python, the very thought of wearing a miniature John Cleese on my wrist persuaded me to buy one for myself the same day.
The concept of this watch is undoubtedly fantastic and innovative. The watch face is very nicely executed with a white background and it features John Cleese in the center. Cleese's legs are set as the minute and hour hands and his rolled-up umbrella ticking off the seconds. Other than his image the watch face has stylized numbers, raised markers, and other decorations. The adjustment knob has a decorative touch. It comes with a black leather band. The idea behind to recreate the popular silly walks from Monty Python on a watch is a nice way to connect with their fans and a tribute to the masterpiece.
The only hitch I faced when I bought the watch was its wrist band, which seemed slightly taut and inflexible. I spent few minutes trying to bend the strap back and forth before I tied it around my wrist. Now, with over a period of usage it has become less stiff. For all those fans of Monty Python I would highly recommend as it can surely cheer them up seeing John Cleese with his gawky legs doing silly walks on their wrist throughout the day.

Great watch from the Minister of Silly Walks. It is, however, nearly impossible to determine the time and certain points of the day. More joke than functionality. I wouldn't change my mind about wearing it, though. It's a fun piece.

It looks like I got this item just in time, as of today it looks like the item is out of stock! From what I remember this item used to cost about $60, which is why I never bought it. However when I saw it drop down to $30 I didn't have to think twice. It's a very fun watch to look at, and makes a great conversation piece. One doesn't need to be a huge fan of Monty Python to appreciate this watch though because often the hands of the watch make it hilarious to look at.

It does have a strange quirk that I noticed, instead of just having Mon to Sun, to indicate the day, it seems to have extra days in languages other than English. For instance last on Thursday it reads "THU" but sometime after midnight I noticed it read "Juev" which is assume is for Jueves (Thursday in Spanish) before moving on to "FRI." Don't quote me on this, I was really groggy that night and had quite a bit to drink, so I may have imagined it.

My main complaint about the watch is that the band is a bit stiff, then again I've only been wearing it on and off for about a week now. The watch itself is a good size, but the crown is a bit large and may dig into one's wrist every now and then but it's a minor inconvenience for the price. Hopefully they will stock this again because last year, the government spent less on Silly walks that on national defence.
