This movie is based on a true story - at the end it gives you the images of the actual people and a few notes of what they went on to do after the mission was over - It is full of action and quite entertaining. It's not a comedy so don't get your hopes up if you expect a bunch of laughs. It has a bit of humor but it's mostly action as it's based on events that accurd during world War 2 that changed the tide of the war significantly.

I recently agreed to watch The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare after my husband showed interest in the film and told me who was going to be in it. Obviously I am glad to have agreed to watch this very adventuresome film. The characters of Gus (Henry Cavill), Hayes (Hero Fiennes Tiffin), Freddy Alvarez (Henry Golding), Anders Lassen (Alan Ritchson) are among the fighters who join up together for a cause requiring the channeling of forceful strength given to them in a discreet manner via Winston Churchill (Rory Kinnear) and Brigadier Gubbins (Cary Elwes) among others (wiki website). Of course there are more actors and actresses also instrumental to the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and I am very glad that my husband treated me to this film to watch for an unlimited amount of times. However even if you are new to this genre of films, you might enjoy viewing The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare if you enjoy spy andor high action type of films.

For those of you needing a "Reacher" fix, this movie is for you and hearing about true events from WW2 is an amazing story albeit some parts changed for more excitement. I couldn't imagine the real dangers of doing what they did with the technology they had some 80 yrs ago. I love that intro though and going to watch again soon. You must see this. I'd rate it up there with Saving Private Ryan for a great war movie.

I saw the YouTube preview of the germans boarding the "Swedish" vessel and immediately thought it was new tarantiono film based on the timing/style and found out it was guy ritchie which also makes sense...it's very entertaining and there's really no twists or sophisticated story line but oh boy is it fun and I actually hate action movies...it's like an updated 1960s ww2movie with better effects. I paid 25 for it on prime so itsup to you but I didn't feel I wasted my money at the end and I'm verrry critical of movies today so was pleasantly surprised....at the end was like yep that was worth 2 hours and I haven't been able to say that about a film since narcos on netflix lol

First off.. what a cast..
•Henry Cavill 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
•Alan Ritchson 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
• Eiza Gonzalez 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
This movie, by Guy Ritchie, matches the pace and humour of classics such as The Great Escape, The Guns of Navarone, The Dirty Dozen, and Kelly’s Hero’s. In fact, it should rightly be considered as their equal — not as ‘cinematographically exquisite’ as those I mentioned earlier, but a dang site more entertaining.

This was a movie my husband originally wanted to watch. I agreed because of the cast. It was actually a much better movie than I ever imagined. It’s directed by Guy Ritchie. I thought it would be a typical war movie, serious and sad, but was not. It’s more like a James Bong movie which I love. It’s very violent, but has humor mixed in with it. Interesting plot as it’s based on true events in history. I have recommended it to other people to watch. And a huge bonus to it is Watching Henry Cavill and Alan Richeson because they are always easy on the eyes.

Guy Richie knocks this story out of the ballpark with a grand slam. Excellent actors, story, effects, and photography all rolled into one. I'm a veteran and huge fan of war movies, and this is one of my best. I saw it in the theater, and I pre-ordered the movie immediately when I got home. Disregard the negative reviews on this movie. To each there own, and this brilliant script and action sequences rock! The pace of the movie is excellent. It is as good as the movie, Where Eagles Dare, and it out performs other war movies in the recent past. Again, the story constantly moves, and I believe it is expertly fashioned along the lines of the true story. It's not a documentary, thank goodness. Yes, there are Hollywood liberties taken to make the true story more blockbusting for the screen. It's expertly done, and it works! Outstanding job! Now if Guy Richie would make another Sherlock Holmes movie, that would be fantastic!

Pacing / Flow was very good.
Music Scores had the Right Timing and Right Fit.
Awesome Background Story---> Operation Postmaster
Characters were all Likable, though Henry Hayes was very "meh" (this actor felt out of place.)
Critique / Main Disappointments: too much build up in the middle & not enough action till the end
You basically had most of the action at the beginning & end but left the middle for a build up that kind of leaves you a little disappointed. More Witty Banter would have been nice, it was there, but could have been better. The Suspense was lacking, again like the Witty Banter, it was there but could have been better.
Suggestion / Possible Director's Cut: another 25-30 minutes of action added in in the middle
Worth a Buy to add to your Collection if you are a Guy Ritchie Fan; but at a nice sale price.
Otherwise, wait until about a $4 rental to see if it's worth a buy for you.
Bonus: March-Phillipps = James Bond
Liked "Operation Fortune" (minus the foul language) better.
Here's hoping "In the Grey" and "Fountain of Youth" will be hits.
