I have had the Minn Kota Terrova 80 / I - Pilot 24V Trolling Motor with US2 now for about 6 months. First off, the power on this thing is awesome! I have a 18 1/2 ft with a 115 HP and it has plenty of Ummf to control the boat in a 20-25 mph wind. Also, remember to warn anyone in the boat that you are about to hit the rabbit button cause it will take off fast enough to put someone overboard. It really does have quite a bit of power compared to a 55. The handheld remote control took a bit to get use too, but once I got the hang of it it has become my go to way of operating the trolling motor. I have only used the foot control that came with it once. The US2 works great also. I don't have any problems seeing my little 1/16 oz Crappie Jig bouncing while I jig it. Only complaint I have is I am a Crappie fisherman and thought the spot loc would work staying over brush piles....WRONG! It says it should keep you within a 5' radius but it is more like a 15' radius. Just doesn't work the way I was hoping it would. All the other controls are pretty worthless as far as using them for Crappie fishing but I bet they are fantastic for Bass fishing. But all in all I am happy with it. I did have a problem with the remote control about a month after I got it, so I called Minn Kota and they quickly shipped me a new one out (Hassle free) and asked that I mail the old one back once I received the new one so I would not lose any fishing time while waiting for my new control to arrive. Thumbs up on Minn Kota's costumer service.

I fish alot of open water on big reservours and this trolling motor is ideal for this job.I have the 60" model and it is plenty long to aviod cavitation in 2'-3' waves. I use the i-pilot to keep the boat on course down a bank or unwater ridge and use Anchor Lock (I call it I-Anchor) is used as soon as I hook a fish to hold us in that exact spot for further casting. I have used Anchor Lock for over 2 hours at a time to fish a specific piece of structure holding big fish. Hands and feet are completely free to cast, catch, photo and release fish all that time - amazing! WOW - it is worth every penny. Great work Minn Kota!!

Hello everyone,
My boat: 21 ft fishing barge Pontoon with 40 hp outboard.
I have the opportunity to use this trolling machine for about three weeks.
After doing a lot researching and reading on the internet, talking to the sale persons that Bass Pro. I decided to bite this model.
I bought the 60" shaft with the full i-pilot model. Here is a summary:
Setup: I installed two new 12v Deep Cycle from Walmart. Put them in the existing compartment right next to the engine in the back, run a heavy duty cable to the front. I also use a fuse, and a Pro marine dual charger. Everything is enclosed nicely in this compartment ( including a third battery for the engine starter). The unit came with 6 nuts. I drill 6 holes, and attach it to the bow floor. It's every straight forward and it can be done at home.

Space: it takes 5 feet long in front of the Pontoon when folded. It's very easy to deploy and fold away with an easy latch.

Control: It came with a foot pedal and a remote control. I haven't used a foot pedal yet since the remote control with the neck strap is very handy that I don't think I need a foot pedal.

Power and Speed: It has 10 speed that can be step up by 1/2 speed. For instant, you can start out with speed 3, and if you feel like it's slow, you can press the "+" sign on the remote to increase the speed to a half (1/2) or viceversa. I really like this since this gives me a perfect speed that I want when trolling. I was afraid of not having enough power since the pontoon is sitting very high and wide on the water. I was debating between 80 lbs and 101 lbs ( uses 3 batteries). I am glad I chose this 80 lbs ( 2 batteries). It has enough juice to go upstream ( in Sacramento, CA), as well as in the 8 mph wind.

I primarily bass fish in north Alabama and southern Tennessee. I went back & forth between the Fortrex & the Terrova and ended up getting the Terrova for the wireless controls and Ipilot features. The Terrova has ample power to move my 20ft boat in any conditions. The controls take getting used to but with a little practice you will master it. So far the Ipilot controls are great & they work as advertised. I really like my Terrova but I could not give it a higher rating for one reason only. In the south we do a lot of fishing after dark. With the Terrova there is no illuminated directional indicator to tell you where you are going in the dark. So if you fish at night this will most defiantly be an issue.

This thing is amazing!!! I have had mine now for about 5 months and have had 0 issues and love all that it can do!. I installed myself with no issues, was straight forward and instructions were very good.

I have a bad back so I do a lot of fishing sitting on my bass boat seat up front. I can set the heading and speed and forget about it and fish. Works perfect, great when you have wind and current to deal with, It keeps your speed just right. The power launch and power retrieval has made me a very lazy dude, I love this feature!! Drives my fishing buddy crazy, he thinks I have it way to easy. LOL

The electronic anchor is better and cheaper than having 2 power poles and it doesn't matter how deep the water is. Does an excellent job keeping you within a 5 foot area, I absolutely love this feature!

I have had Minn Kota previous to this one with 0 problems and hope the same will be true with this one, even though it has more moving parts.
