Other than the above, the book is a good guide and is accurate, for the most part. A few of what the Minnesota DNR calls "state recreation areas" are referred to as "state parks" and I found a couple of somewhat inaccurate statements. Good overall info, though. I would definitely recommend it.
I particularly liked the author's suggestion of visiting one state park in each of Minnesota's seven areas, and I loved the photos!
If it's location, the map shows you were the nearest park is located.
If it's horseshoe throwing, fishing from a dock, or hiking each listing gives the parks highlights and attractions.
It also lists special events, festivals and the time of year they take place near and within each State Park.
So if you're planning that Big Minnesota Family reunion of Paul Bunyan look alikes then you'll know that Lake Bemidji will be the state park for you.
Each listing includes all the contact information you need to get going! It also includes links to further refine your research before packing the RV and heading out! This is a great little guidebook, really the best place to start when planning a Minnesota Vacation.
