I just finished the 8 week program today and thought I’d write my review. Here’s what I thought…About me: I’m a 49 year old male and feel that I’m in okay shape. I’ve done many workout series in the past including P90X, Insanity, UFC Fit and RIP:60. By the way, I’m not a BeachBody Coach. For this workout, I did the schedule as written and didn’t miss a workout (including the extra core workout on the cardio days). I didn’t do any additional exercises outside of this schedule either. For the nutrition part: I followed a Paleo diet during the whole 8 weeks and was fairly clean throughout (only had a few cheat meals/drinks here and there).I was a bit skeptical that a person could get good results by working out only 22 to 33 minutes a day, but thought it was worth a try since I’d prefer shorter workouts. With that said, I lost 11lbs in 8 weeks (from 177lbs down to 166). I’m now a believer!22 minute Hard Corps is one of my favorite work out series. I liked the military style of the workouts and it never got over the top with the drill Sargent stuff. Tony was great in the series. He cut out the banter that was in P90X - making the workouts fly by. He also made the workouts more efficient. The exercises were easy to learn and used compound movements – incorporating multiple muscle groups in a single exercise. The resistance days were my favorite. I should also add, that I never experienced any joint pain or fell sick during the 8 week program.I believe the magic in these shorter workouts is more on the psychological side than with the exercises themselves. The fact that the workouts are shorter made it less painful to do every day, and easier to complete the entire program instead of quitting half way through in failure. I no longer dreaded working out after I got home from work. I even did the optional core workouts on the cardio days. I’ve always skipped them in other workout series. I figured I had no excuses this time since I’m still only investing a total of about 30 minutes of my time per day. Plus by week 3, I started to see my abs, which has never happened before. Abs may start in the kitchen, but they end on the mat!The downside to the shorter workouts is that you probably have to be more honest with your nutrition to see progress. If I wasn’t as strict with my diet, I don’t think I would of have gotten as good of results.Overall: great workout!
I thoroughly enjoy 22 Minutes Hard Corps. The workouts are challenging, fun, and motivating. I especially like the military- like pacing of the workouts. My hats off to Tony Horton for his dedication in making 22 Minutes Hard Corp.

This workout series piqued my attention because my husband is in the military, and we've been in the market for a DVD series that we could do together. We bought both 22 Minute Hard Corps and 21 Day Fix. Both series are similar in length (i.e., the workouts are 20-30 minutes each) and both have similar diet plans; however, the "coaching" tactics provided by the fitness instructors are unique to them and their intended audiences. Since this review is for 22 Minute Hard Corps, I'll focus my attention on Tony Horton and his crew...but I will say that 21 Day Fix is a great program for those looking for something quick and effective.
The 22 Minute Hard Corps DVD set we purchases comes with two DVDs, each with several workouts included. The workouts were all around 22 minutes in length - though the ab workouts were shorter, about 11 minutes in length. The ab workouts are directed for use in addition to the regular workouts on certain days, which brings the total workout time to ~35 minutes on ab days.
These workouts go by quickly, target all areas of the body, and make you sweat... a lot. This is the first workout series that we actually followed the Beach Body plan - to include all pretests, posttests, and diet plans. Although we had a few cheat days, both my husband and I lost weight and inches by using 22 Minute Hard Corps. It was also fun and encouraging to see our Max metrics increase as we progressed through the program - especially for push-ups and pull-ups.
Bottom line: this program is a quick fix for bathing suit season. Highly recommended for home fitness for both men and women - and not necessarily those in uniform (honestly, the all veteran cast was an interesting twist, but really just provided a change of scenery from the typical gym environment featured in most Beach Body series). I must say - if you really want this program to work - follow the diet plan and try to limit your cheat days. That is the key to actually seeing results.
22 Min Hard Corps is a solid basic workout program. Workouts are a mix of cardio and resistance workouts with a few weights (the "sandbag" is the promo prop but almost any dumbbell/weight will do) roughly 20mins each. The program features American service veterans along with some personalities. This is a bit of a marketing ploy of course but anyone who has been in the military will recognize many of the exercises from general physical training. Thus the branding fits the routines and is a nice motivator. As usual Tony brings some fun and humor to the workouts.
Is it good? Any workout routine is relative to a person's fitness level (and goals). If you are out of shape or do not exercise regularly I think this is a very good program. If you are already in good general shape I would characterize the routines as on the lighter side. Just as with military PT you need to do more than just PT. But this is not a knock on the workouts. As Tony always says, "Modify, modify, modify." This applies to 22Min Hard Core. If the routines are too easy push yourself harder. Go faster, more reps, better form. Use higher weight. Strap on a weight vest and/or ankle weights. Go for 30 or 40mins. The exercises are almost all classics or modern takes on classic exercises. There is nothing phony about the program. Even unmodified, for someone in good shape it makes for an excellent "recovery" program. I rotate it in after BeastX and P90X and find it a nice change of pace and appreciate the abbreviated time. This is a 20 min routine after all. It simply is not going to be the same as an hour P90X workout with eight sets of max pull-ups.
Use your head and take advantage of what the program has to offer. You'll be satisfied.
I am glad that I got this program, I can see the results 3 weeks in, dropped almost 5 kg in 3 weeks following the exercise and the nutrition guide, not strictly though. I cannot do chin-ups as I don't have pull-up bars, I just used my dumbbells as a modified move, and also the nutrition guide recommended to follow plan of 2400 - 2600 calories a day which is plan 5, rather I followed plan 3 which targets 1800 - 2100 calories a day because I know that I need to drop some weight, and also because my body will require more calories as I progress with the program so it will happen that I shift to plan 4 later on.. 1 thing that I don't like is how that put the program into 2 DVDs, I would have preferred to burn it all on 1 DVD, because now everyday I have to swap between the DVDs, and the video quality is not FHD or even HD, thumbs down for that, but I still love it ..
