THIS ERROR OCCURS WITH OR WITHOUT THE Active Connect in its cradle. And, I *know* the system worked ONCE, because I was able to upload data ONCE. Very very disappointed.
First: I am willing to consider that my frustrations are based on user ignorance and I will update this post if things change. However, one week into using it, this purchase is not quite what I had hoped for.
On the plus side: This is a comfortable watch I don't mind wearing all the time. I really love that I don't have to wear a chest band to get a heart rate. I like being able to check my heart rate at any time.
On the negative side: My vision was that this watch would measure my heart rate while I exercise, then (once synched online) show me how much time I have spent in my target heart rate zone. I also hoped it would show me my current heart rate while I run (I tend to let it get too high). The steps it takes to do this are complex and I have yet to get it right. Again, this may be user error and I will update this post if I can master that.
I am disappointed in the pedometer. It shows that I walk a lot of steps while in the car. I realize that pedometers work on motion but I wish there was some way to pause the pedometer when I'm in the car. I've noted the steps before and after a car trip and I'm getting lots of credit for steps I'm not taking! If the pedometer isn't accurate, it has no value.
The distance reader on the watch is inaccurate as well. It said that I ran nearly 3.4 miles this morning, when I know I ran my normal three-mile route. Not a huge deal but just one more thing I'm disappointed in.
I am also disappointed in the watch's syncing with myfitnesspal. I was really excited about this feature, but it hasn't worked right. My exercise has only appeared once in myfitnesspal, even though I am LOOKING at it on the watch and it says that it has correctly synced with myfit. It also doesn't sync the calories I log on myfitnesspal back onto the watch (apparently, my definition of "synchronized" is different from theirs). I have to do that separately if I want the calories to appear on the watch. Who has time to do that?
My other major gripe is how sensitive it is to moisture. You'd think a product meant to be worn on the wrist during exercise wouldn't be affected by sweat. When attempting to take my heart rate measurement during my workout the display will read "Dry Please". It's a real pain to dry it off during a run or workout.
Lastly, I don't think it measures speed or distance accurately and that results in inaccurate calorie burn calculations. With the speed set to 6 mph on the treadmill the Mio said I was running at 8.5 mph.
This product had a lot of potential but isn't worth the high price by any means.
