Good mice, Cheap Mouse Wheel switches that fail.

I have 3 of these now. I bought them after my experience with my first one, which was great 6 months in.

After a year and a half, 2 of them now have had issues with the mouse wheel button stopping working, or working intermittently.

If you google this, it is a known issue with ALL Mionix mice. They use cheap switches for the mouse wheel clicker that tend to fail after warranty ends. There are many Youtube videos out there on how to fix it/replace the switches as well. I did the research, and the switches you want to replace them with are PANASONIC EVQ-P0E07K. The ones they use are cheap versions of this, but these switches are high quality versions. You can find them on multiple sites, ready to ship ASAP in the USA. After replacement of the switch, my 2 mice are now working properly again, and hopefully will be for a long time.

I really wanted to like this mouse, and I most certainly did. It comes in a unique astecally pleasing box. The laser on this mouse had no problems tracking on my Aukey mouse pad and through the well designed software, I was able to set the mouse to a familiar DPI. The mouse has a nice rubberized texture. It's rubberized feel and weight are very similar to a Razer Death adder. Through the software you are able to choose any color you would like for the Mionix logo as well as the scroll wheel. Patterns such as "breathing" or others can be selected. The problem which ultimately forced me to return it, was the shape. In the search to replace my old CM Storm Spawn I have purchased, and returned five mice up to this one in hopes of finding a true fingertip grip mouse to replace the dated Spawn. I have pretty large hands and even still, the bottom of the mouse is too long, hitting my palm during fingertip use. This ultimately stops me from aiming further down in games, putting me at a huge disadvantage as a lift up and move the mouse.

To end, this mouse would work great for Palm, or claw grip. Unless you are a titan, don't purchase this for your fingertip grip.
I hope I was able to help other tip grippers in their purchase decision.

Pros: Put it this way, I never thought there'd be a mouse that could replace the snappy responsiveness and comfort of my Razer DeathAdder and Zowie EC2-A till I got this mouse. It feels great and it just feels right in your hand. A very light mouse, but not too light, just right. Combined with a decent cloth gaming mouse pad, this mouse is awesome. It also has on-board memory, so you won't have to keep booting up the software just to get your settings memorized (that was one of the ONLY drawbacks I had with the Razer DeathAdder). The mouse buttons have quite a nice feel to them (oh that Omron switch goodness, I tell ya!).

Minor Cons: If you're a palm gripper, this mouse might not be for you. It caters to my hybrid clawgrip style quite well. But if you have huge hands, this probably isn't for you. Also, a light mouse might not be to your liking. I'm not a fan of heavy mice and this mouse has no weight management options. You either get used to the weight or you don't with this mouse. The thumb padding is great, BUT, it's a lint magnet. It's no different than the lint magnet grips of the DeathAdder, but it's a minor chore. The slope of the thumb grip might take a little getting used to, but after a while, this mouse does start to cater to your hand like a comfortable glove.

UPDATE - 02/09/2016: So, I did notice the left mouse button was a lot stiffer than the right mouse button. At first, I thought that was by design. Then, the tactile 'bump' became less and less apparent to the point where the left mouse button was not working anymore. I can't believe I've owned this mouse for less than 2 months and I'm already using the insurance that I paid for this thing to send me a replacement.

UPDATE - 2/17/2016: Mionix returned my messages regarding the defective Castor I had. They said that they'd be more than happy to replace my mouse. But the RMA process was horrible! They wanted the following: a) Provide a VIDEO regarding the issue b) Ship the defective product to SWEDEN. You know how much it costs to send a 1lb box to Sweden? Approx. $115+ USD! I was not happy with this proposition as a customer at all, especially when I was trying to see if they honored their warranty policy.

UPDATE - 5/05/2016: So why did I change my rating back from 1 star to 5 stars? The mouse is fantastic. It just so happened that mine was defective. I respect companies like this that reach out to you to try to make things right. This is rare. A gentleman from Mionix reached out to me to (goes by the name of Christoffer) to see what they can do to make the RMA process for U.S. customers easier. Initially, I was told that I had to ship the defective product to Sweden. Shipping a 1lb box to Sweden isn't exactly cheap. So my initial experience involved Amazon refunding me my money while I ended up with defective Castor (the LMB is now completely unresponsive). Thanks to Mionix and Christoffer, amends were made and the option for U.S. customers to exercise the warranty, return or RMA process has improved drastically (you can now ship the product to a U.S. location!). The final resolution involved fantastic customer service (after my initial experience of course), a change in the return process for all U.S. customers who buy Mionix product and most importantly, they replaced my defective Castor with a fully functional and brand spanking new Castor. This company rocks and I hope computer accessory companies like Mionix keep up the great work. Thanks Amazon and thanks Mionix!

Perfect shape and sensor, i needed a new mouse after my razer naga 2012's switches finally broke, i tried out a few others like the logitech g402 which is a good mouse with a great sensor but the weight and shape were really hard to get used to, the rival 100 was also another i tried but the "safe shape" of it felt really uncomfortable to me. finally i found this, its a really nice shape with a really comfortable rubberized hard plastic coating giving it a nice grip feel, it doesn't weigh alot (around 86 grams i think), i found the sensor is super responsive and snappy and doesn't rattle when you shake the mouse. another thing i like is all the buttons on the mouse require significantly less actuation force than those on the logitech g402.
as for the software it's a little clunky but that could be fixed with firmware updates in the future, other than its easy to use. the only thing i can really think of that i dont like is that the cable comes bundled up in lots of short folds so its all zig zagy and catches of your desk so i had to straighten mine out for a few days, other than that the braided cable seems very good quality and smooth. all in all this mouse is a 5 out of 5 for me, really pleased with it.

I have mixed feelings about this mouse...
The ergonomics are good with the mouse fitting my hand very well. The tracking is good too.
RGB is just RGB, nothing special there. The software utility has a lot of options available and doesn't even have to be installed to operate.
A major downside in my opinion are the buttons. They feel mushy and don't give you enough tactile feedback when you press them. It becomes a problem when you are wearing a headset and can't tell how many clicks you've made. Another annoying thing is that you can't rest your hand on the mouse due to the second mouse button being very sensitive. It doesn't take a lot to press the button and I found myself constantly missclicking it with my middle finger even though I don't have large/heavy hands.
Overall not a bad mouse but I would not recommend it for competitive gaming. Had to send mine back for a refund due to the above.

Its technically a "gaming mouse" but it doesn't have a lot of the settings/features the likes of Logitech/razer would give you. Its fairly comfortable and should be great for most people. ( I have large hands and it was still good).

2 Main gripes.
- The liftoff distance cannot be changed and this messed my aim up a bit in csgo as i am a mou$eLifter.
- The clicks are fairly loud and harder to press than e.g a deathadder.

For that i will be giving this mouse away

However it is still a vary nice mouse and i would recommend it to most average gamers due to the low price but still getting a good sensor, braided cable and side buttons.

Pros:
•good sensor-(PWM 3310)
•ok mouse feet
•3 DPI settings (but no indicator)
•nice left and right clicks and good shape for the buttons

Cons:
•scroll steps- I am not sure if it was just my mouse but either the step wouldn't register at all or it would register two steps. It rarely register correctly
•the rubber "grip"- the only think that grips is dust and moisture. Out of the box it was full of dust or lint from the packaging. If moisture touchs the grip it seems to stick there while making it near impossible pick up.
•"ergonomic" grooves- these groves, for me, make the mouse unusable especially with slippages with "grip".

Overall, I think this won't effect every user, I would advise potential buyers with big hands to stay away.

I've used a bunch of mice for work and play, but it's hard to find one you like.

I love how the Castor fits my hand, which is on the large side of meat platter. That's not to say it's a big mouse - it isn't - but it just works so well.

All the clickies are nicely clicky and the scroll wheel feels like a Rolls Royce compared to my previous Steel Series.

If buying for Mac, then you'll need to set up via Windows first (the mouse has a memory), otherwise the tracking is paaaaaainfully slow - avoid!

If you run hot, then the matte coating does get a bit sweaty. My Corsair M65 didn't have that problem.

All told, I really like this mouse.
