Top customer reviews
Yes, I still stand by my thought of buying a rechargeable package with just about any toy if it can be avoided.
In short, 5 stars for the toy, 3 stars for their offering a battery package at such an inflated price. Ergo, 4Stars
However... I just replied to a question about its durability, and I decided to copy it here in case someone reads the reviews, and not the questions. Here it is:
I would say it's beyond what I would expect in a toy like this. I volunteer as an assistant at my kids' school and one day after a lego demo went miserably wrong, I went straight home and brought back several "Toys". One If these, a "Sphero", a "MiP, an "Ollie", a BB-8, and a few others. Since then, I regularly bring them in since it was such a hit!! The class has ~ 12-15 kids ages 3-5 (Depending on day). The "MiPosaur" is absolutely their favorite by a loooong shot! They THROW the ball, chase him, tug him around, pull his tail (Which, VERY conveniently detaches whenever pulled too much). :0)
I'd guess he's been played with for a minimum of 100+ hours without a single problem. You don't even need a "Smart" device to play with him in a few modes!!
In short, I'd absolutely buy one again if/ when the one I have fizzles out.
By the way, I paid FULL MSRP for this as well. No "Testing", or "Free/ discounted item if I provide a review" either. My review is completely and honestly unbiased and in no way could it credibly be claimed to be otherwise. Thanks and good luck!!!
BEFORE YOU BUY, READ THIS - This thing has been extremely fun. However, $55.00 for 8 rechargeable batteries and a charger? (Diff. between current prices w/ and w/ out the "Battery package"). These aren't proprietary batteries - They're just 4 AA and 4 AAA size batteries, so you can get them anywhere. Oneloop is a very good brand for these and I'm positive you can get the charger and all 8 rechargeable batteries for quite a bit less than what it costs for this "Package deal". Also, the Oneloop batteries will quite likely hold a charge longer and last longer.
It does help somewhat to turn wifi off while playing. Even while it's off and more responsive, single control does nothing and dual control is extremely difficult.
I am also returning the MIP robot because it's just kind of lame and doesn't do what it's supposed to do either.
These were a major disappointment.
Cool but hard to control with iPad. My kids seem to like anyway.
One major drawback that may have caused me to reconsider buying - you can't seem to battle two MiPosaurs! Plus, if two are played with in a room together they get confused and the controls from their respective balls affect both MiPosaurs.
Wish they were more clear about this fact. We even bought a MiP robot so we could battle but the MiPosaur seems much more powerful and takes out the robot very quickly. Not a fair fight and not much fun.
P.S. The robot is much easier to control via the app than the MiPosaur.
The leash almost never works and when we use the tracker all as a fetch ball he mostly just sit next to it and move around. My 3 yo loves it but we are a litttle but disappointed that it doesn't work as advertised. It would be one thing if I had been able to order it when it was $39 but at $79, it's a little steep for something that doesn't do half the things it's supposed to!
