I am using this soil indoors and have a love-hate relationship with it!
What I love:
* soil is organic
* is light yet absorbs/retains water well
* good quality
* priced well
* plants react very well to it - you can tell they're happy!
Issues:
* it's a breeding ground for fungus gnats!
I am using this soil indoors - for potted plants and herbs. Every time I use this soil fungus gnats appear out of nowhere, literally overnight! Since the soil is organic there's no insecticide to ward off these pesky critters. The end result? Little flies whizzing all over the place, leading to root-eating larvae that kill plants and/or stunt growth.
I am using yellow traps to kill the adults and ordered diaomaceous earth to kill larvae (will post review after testing its efficacy).
Other than the fungus gnat issue I LOVE this soil. If you're using this soil outdoors you should experience fantastic results. Indoors? Well... prepare yourself for lots of little flying visitors!
I am attaching a photo of fungus gnats that got stuck to yellow paper traps. There are a lot more where these came from! :-o

worst potting mix (plant on the right grown in Miracle-Gro Nature's Care potting mix)

I did a comparison of this Miracle-Gro Nature's Care Organic Potting Mix with a known solid performer, Pro-Mix Premium All-purpose Mix with MycoActive. Hands down, Miracle-Gro Nature's Care sucked.For the comparison, I grew sweet basil. Plants in the Miracle-Gro mix developed severe root rot, as shown in the photo. Other than different potting mixes, each pot shown was treated equally, watered with rain water once the top one inches dried out, and fertilized once a month with Alaska 5-1-1 fish emulsion at the labeled rate. The plants received 5 to 6 hours of full sun each day.I purchased the Miracle-Gro Nature's Care potting mix because it was on a clearance sale. I would rather pay full price for a good-quality potting mix that does not cause plants to grow poorly.There are similar complaints about all of Miracle-Gro's potting mixes in reviews on a bunch of websites, so my experience isn't unique.Miracle-Gro may have an agenda to sabotage organic products, i.e., putting out an inferior product to convince folks to go back to their synthetic-chemical-laden non-organic products. It's the same company as Scotts, and these guys profit mainly by pushing synthetic fertilizer and pesticides. They want to subvert the organic movement, which they view as a threat to their business, so they put out bad performing (and overpriced) organic products.
